Q:Standing water under sprinkler valves?
Sounds to me, like you have one of two things happening. Either you have a leak, which needs to be fixed. Or the valve box is in a low area where the water drains to... Turn on the water and watch the valves.. you might be able to see where the water is coming from. It may be as simple as tightening down the valve screws, or you may need to turn off the water at the main and repair or replace it. If the water is draining there or the leak isn't all that terrible the only way drain rock would help is if you were to dig underneath the valve a little, and to replace what you dig out with rock... Just make sure you can still access everything when you are finished. Good Luck!

Q:Replaced a Rain Bird control box, Power on and not controlling valves.?
I would test the leads inside the control box first... You will have to run the controls manually to troubleshoot the problem. Get a voltage meter to test for the 24 volts at the transformer connections inside the box... If you do not have the 24 volts then the problem will be the transformer. If you have the correct voltage from the transformer then you can test each of the station terminals to common. Test through each station to see if you have 24 volts at each station terminal, but you may have to remove the wires off to test. If you do not have power coming from each station… then the problem will be the rain bird control. The next step would be testing the wires… If you reconnect the wires… test just prior at each valve location to see if you have the 24 volts between the common and each station wire… if you can prove out that there is 24 volts at this location then you’re down to the final testing. Reconnect the valves – one side to the common and the other to each station wire… Getting the power (24v) to the valve should have cleared your problem. Good Luck… Running the valves manually will not affect the operation of the rainbird control... but with my rainbird valves.. you can shut off the valves completely and disable the electrical controls of the valve... make sure that you have not closed the valve off manually preventing the electrical side... a problem with rainbird controls. This does not have anything to do with residual water in the lines... I would test this side first before you get into the electrical side... could save you a lot of time.

Q:How is the heart valves opening/closing is synchronized with the SA-node firing?
It's all mechanical. The valves are passive things kind of like a screen door. When you push on them from one side they open, when you push on them from the other they close. The valves are assisted by some fibers attached to the inside of the heart similar to the way a screen door is helped by a spring attached to the door frame. It's the flowing blood that pushes the valves open or closed as the heart pumps. The path that the blood follows in the heart as it beats happens to make it so that the valves close two at a time. This is because the heart is actually four separate pumps that work two at a time. There's no direct electrical connection to the SA node. The only way they're connected is that the SA node firing is what causes the heart to pump, causing the blood to force the valves open.

a cold air intake will produce more hp and tourque while a bov will help release back pressure on a turbocharged vehicle. ive got a 1.8l turbo and i went with a cold air intake. then again i was going for more hp. also the bov will produce an awsome release of air into the atmosphere. then again if you get the air intake like i did you will hear the wastegate on your turbo make that same noise. and trust me itll make some ppl think you got major hp under the hood. so if you want the hp and the sound get the intake if you want the sound but are satisfied with the hp get the bov. intake will also help mpg's to.
Q:Mountain bike presta/shrader valve?
Yes you can. Many people have done so. Make sure you file the hole after drilling so you will not have any burrs. BTW most tubes come from China so if you want to put in walmart specials or from a reputable bike shop it will do the job. If you want to put presta valves again, then you can buy a grommet that reduces the hole size. If you have an expensive bike and want to keep it original, then I advise not to drill

Q:How to adjust lawn mower valves?
I have never worked on the lawn mower engine. I have adjusted valves on motorcycles which have overhead valves. There are markings on the ignition generator that designate which valve would be in the correct position. However, if you spin the crank which will move the valves up and down, you can adjust each valve when you can shake the valve tappet. This happens when the valve is closed and the cam comes away from the tappet. You should be able to feel play in the tappet when the valve is closed. Adjust this closed valve. Be careful not to make your clearance to tight. This is worse than loose. Looseness makes noise and excessive wear over time but tight will burn your valve seat and ruin the valve. I have to wonder if you really need to do anything to valves on a ten year old tractor. It's only a tractor, not anything high revving or high performance. My tractor has overhead valves and was new in the early 90's. Never did anything to it but change the oil. If you do plan on doing it, good luck.
