Q:I am starting a garden this fall with berry bushes and leafy greens. I have been doing a bunch of reasearch because I have never had a garden before and some of my plants are prone to bugs and fungus. I want my garden to be as organic as possible so I don't want chemical spray. Anyone know any good homemade concoctions I can make to help? Thanks =D
I will just name one product: neem. It is good for controlling some fungal diseases and many insects. You can buy it at places like Home Depot. It's usually packaged as a spray with a name that indicates it's uses, not as neem. Just look at the active ingredients, and it should say 70% neem oil. It is approved for organic production. Make sure it is labeled for your crops.
Q:I see many of my friends and neighbors with their home gardens, and somedays it seems to me that they are not really saving much? But maybe there is something I am missing. Do you think home gardens are really worth all the time, energy and expense?
In this day and age it is not so much about saving but enjoying gardening. It is mostly a hobby among those of us that like being outside and making things grow. Smelling the air, hearing the birds sing, seeing butterflies flutter by. If you do not enjoy digging in the soil and pulling up weeds then you should choose another type of hobby.
Q:i am looking for stuff for me and my fiance new apartmentsearsjcpennykholsikea...
jcpenny,Kohl's and ikea do not have a home and garden a garden is where they sell flowers
Q:I just bought a new house and I would like to plant pretty flowers. But I'm not really outdoors person so i would like something easy and pretty. I thought about Liliac but i dont know how easy it woudl be to buy and plant and grow. Also i dont want to go to Home depot and look stupid talking to the garden people about flowers...so simple please... Thanks so much. The last home owners has tulips about to bloom can i plant near them or do they need space.
Since I don't know your growing zone I can't recommend anything. A lilac is a bush that can grow quite tall. Perennials are flowers that come up every year. Annuals are flowers that last only one season. There must be an extension service in your city or an agricultural college nearby. You can go online and ask them. There is so much information on the internet about plants and their care. Go to this website to find your plant hardiness zone in the U.S. If you are not in the U.S., search for a plant hardiness map in your country.
Q:i don't have anything planted in my garden right now but am planning to plant vegetable in the springshould i till my garden and expose the dirt to the winter frost or leave it like it is until i till in the spring
Yes, if the ground isn't too hard till it now. Frost will break down any clods of dirt and also kill any weeds you turn over. You will then be well away for planting when spring comes.
Q:During the finals anyway. In the home and away season BHG is usually in the top 3 and the football is out of the top 10.Friday September 4 2009Adelaide Vs Essendon - 1,022,000 viewersBetter Homes And Gardens - 1,011,000 viewersFriday September 11 2009Western Bulldogs V Brisbane Lions - 1,187,000 viewersBetter Homes And Gardens - 827,000 viewersChannel 7 are NOT showing the St Kilda game live, but according to the last two weeks they probably should. They probably figure that since they are getting such good ratings for BHG and the football that they don't need to show the game live.I'm just glad that channel 10 is broadcasting their Prelim live.
Yeah I know that Better Homes and Gardens gets its good views from people turning on to watch the footy early. I thought channel 7 was showing the game live, maybe that's just SA though...
Q:Have a new house with many plantings front and back yard. Communication with previous owner has been difficult. I would love to find a volunteer who would walk through the garden areas with me to name and label the various species there. I want to weed, but love wildflowers and such, and don't want to take out something of interest. I know I can go to my local university with plant leaves for help with identification, but with so many, it would be a long and tedious process.By the way, my geographic location is northeastern Connecticut. thank you.

Q:my neighbours on both side of me are complaining about my 2 cats going in there gardens and fouling! they have gone into the pots with plants in and scrapped the soil all over, peed on plants and generally making a nuisance of themselves!... im at my wits end with this problem, i dont think its fair to keep them indoors all the time! anyone got any advice on anything i could buy my neighbours for them to put in there gardens to detter them would be well accepted?
Three choices: 1. Keep them inside at all times. 2. Train your cat to a harness/leash and stay out with him. 3. Build/buy a cat enclosure and put your cat in there. Its YOUR responsibility to control you pet - dog or cat - so keep your cat in your yard at all times.
Q:This is my first gardening experience. The tomatoes turned out nicely. But now what do I do? If I leave the plants, will they grow more tomatoes again?
It depends on your growing season, and the type of tomato plants you have. If you have indeterminate(which means they grow forever as long as conditions are right), and the weather is still condusive to growth, they will keep producing fruit.
Q:Starts with the letter D, first word is ten letters, second word is eight letter. Ugh, I hate projects like this. I seriously can't figure this thing out!
Draculean dangers= is the only thing I can come up with (garden and danger are anagrams) Dracula is a vampire, but Draculean only 9 letters, and gardens only 7 - I tried :0) Dangerous draculas? (9 8 letters getting closer...)
