Q:well i had my sofa bed for about 3 months and i think its time to clean it. what do you use to clean a sofa bed.
I would treat a sofa bed and mattress like a regular one -- with a little added attention. Using the mattress attachment, give it a good vacuuming on both sides. Spot treat any stains. If it does have a cover, follow the label for washing instructions. Getting the mattress itself wet isn't a good idea if you can help it as it's really hard to completely dry. If you can take it outside, that will help freshen it up. If you haven't already done this, a good step to keep it as clean as possible moving forward is to add a mattress pad or cover. Launder/change the linens every week as you would for a regular bed.
Q:Our dog suddenly is sneaking onto our sofas. We went away one wknd, our daughter stayed home with our dog he now sneaks onto sofas and runs to his bed when I wake up during the night or come home during the day. SO he knows not to get on the sofas because he runs to his own bed! How can we train him to not get up on the sofas? I bought him his own soft dog sofa bed.
I think its the scent of you guys that your dog is liking not to mention who doesnt love to sleep on a sofa. Try taking a blanket or a pillow with your scent on it and put it in your dogs new bed. Dogs tend to not like new things without a smell. Give it a try!
Q:I want a deep seated sofa, any suggestions? (tradition design preferred). I get tired of pulling out the sofa bed. It would be in the living room for occasional guests or when husband snores too much!
You might have some difficulties finding exactly the kind you want without paying a high price for it. Most sofas are designed for sitting rather than sleeping on. However, if you currently have a sofa bed type couch, then it probably is not very comfortable to sit on. Try checking out some Futons, since really good ones have removable pads that are comfortable for both sitting and laying on. However, don't expect to get one for a cheap price. Rather go for comfort not price. Also, you might look into getting a roll-a-bed, that can be stored when not in use. They are coming back in style and are pretty comfortable to sleep on. One the other hand, there is always the day bed that can be used in a den or spare room that looks great and sleeps good too.
Q:again, not to be taken literallythough you can go ahead and add what you've found under your sofa cushions for fun. the best i've ever found was dust.
I want to be the stuff under the cushions but I'm often afraid that I'm just the sofa. I do sit here a lot and answer questions but maybe that IS using my potential. IDK. Good Q!
Q:I currently have a sofa and matching sofa, I also have an antique wing chair. I fell in love with a sofa but they do not make a matching love seat. I already have two end tables a coffee table. what are some interesting ways to get around this problem. I def need the seating
Don't worry about matching the sofa with a love seat. If you love the sofa and want to incorporate your wing chair, consider an armless chaise in the same fabric as your sofa, color conducive to the wing chair. If you need the extra seating for occasional parties, then an armless chaise would suffice since it can accommodate 3 people seated lengthwise. If you need the seating for a large family, you may opt for another sofa, facing each to the other, coffee table in the middle (depends on the scale and function of your room).
Q:Hi everyone,I'm looking to make some extra money as my current job doesn't pay enough and I'm unable to leave currently. I recently found an old antique sofa on eBay which I am thinking of bidding on and hopefully win. It's a large Victorian Three-Seater Chesterfield Settee with good frame, mahogany legs and original horse hair.
If you use leather, you will spending hundreds of dollars to reupholster that sofa, and it's unlikely you'll ever get your money out of it. That's only the leather cost too--you'll need strapping, padding and tools to do it yourself, or the cost of the extras for the pro. You can figure at least $500-1000 to have it reupholstered--and you probably won't be able to sell it for anywhere near that. Also, reupholstered antiques don't have a big market--you won't be able to sell it to a shop, and if you try to sell it again on OKorder, or some other site like that, you run the risk of not getting anywhere near the money you would need to recover your costs of re-doing it. It would make a very nice piece for your home if you did it yourself--but not in leather. Finding leather that big, sewing it together in small pieces to cover large areas--that's a job for a professional, not an amateur. You need a special sewing apparatus to successfully sew leather into large pieces. However, there are very inexpensive ways to recover sofas and chairs with FABRIC. At your hardware store, you can find large, one-piece canvas DROP CLOTHS--these are clean, usually a neutral color, and come in huge pieces--often one or two large ones is all you need even for a big sofa. They cost less than $20 each. Padding can be found at any fabric store--as well as new foam for the seats and back. It's fun to reupholster furniture with materials you don't spend a lot of money on--because if you mess up, you're not out a huge amount of cash. You can also use fabric tablecloths, shower curtains or sheets, blankets or bedspreads--all for a lot less money than leather.
Q:Obviously, the PB sofa is nicer, but it costs three times as much. PB offers more choice of fabrics, but with a toddler, I think maybe I should just get a basic white that I can spot bleach when something gets spilled. On the other hand, in a few years, I might be really annoyed if I have to buy a whole new sofa from Ikea rather than just a new slipcover from PB, although a whole sofa from Ikea is still cheaper than a slipcover from PB.Any advice?
It sounds like you'd really rather have the PB couch and I don't blame you! As you've said, you can clean the slipcovers! Just because you have a toddler doesn't mean you can't have nice things. It's good to teach them early to be careful of your furnishings. You are choosing between two extremes, though. PB is really pricey. Check out some other furniture stores and see if there's something in-between that you'd like. If you live in the south, try Dillard's. Also, leather is beautiful and holds up well with kids and dogs...mine has weathered both for 10 years and still looks new!
Q:I've tried everywhere and no one seems to sell them. I have a leather sofa and loveseat that have been used and abused .Rather than buy new, I'd like to just put some slipcovers on. But the type they are doesn't seem to be available in slipcovers. I've googled, no luck. Most sites that sell them say they don't make them for these type of sofas. Any suggestions? I'm getting desperate and am thinking staplegun and fabric is my only option!

Q:Please answer because I'm thinking about purchasing at least one of these this week. I have green walls and hardwood floors and I'm going to put a 9x12 rug down.So tell me would it work or is it a no no?
Sorry but no. The contemporary and traditional do not compliment each other but instead fight each other for dominance. It's too confusing to look at. You will have to choose between the styles and I think that is where your problem is. The traditional sofa is nice and makes a bold statement and would also require other bold, curvy rounded and oversized traditional pieces to complete the room. The contemporary ones are also nice (just not my choice) but require more sleek modern pieces to complete the look of straight sleek lines. edit: strawberry thats a good question. you don't have to settle for the same ol boring matching sets just choose pieces that are in a complimentary color and in the same proportion as that sofa. Big and chunky or even a smaller scale would work as long as you still have those nice rounded curves. Tie them together with throws and pillows. For example if you have a brown sofa and a green loveseat, place green cushions on the sofa and brown on the loveseat and always throw in a third splash of color for added interest. Think in the lines of the furniture for accessories.
Q:will a green sofa go on white walls ?
It depends on the other colors in the room. If you have a lot of other green furniture in the room, and the sofa is a similar shade of green, then yes I think it will go. But I would not reccomend it if you have a lot of other color furniture or if your walls are an off/tinted white.
