- That is a classical Victorian Sofa (with a tufted back) tghey used to be made with horse hair; you will have to do some googling at some specialty sites as these aren't produced in abundance. YOu can find some antique ones as well.

- The military's legal should have a copy of it. Why don't you sue the landlord. If the German law is on your side, then you should win the case. I am military also, but not sure about Germany's laws.

- I think I know to what you are referring. The arm is narrow, and does not roll outward from the seating. Do the seat cushions wrap around the front of the arms, or do they fit inside? The first is a T-cushion and the second is a box cushion. Because so much of the furniture of the last couple of decades had arms that took up almost as much space as a seat, much of the available slipcovers are designed for them. I have some links below that may help you better describe your sofa. If you do a search with the proper terms you may get a match you want. Try different search engines (Google, Bing, Ask, etc.) as they sometimes use different criteria and bring up slightly different sites. I would suggest you choose a slipcover with separate cushion covers. The cushions keep the rest of the slipcover in place. Everyone I know who has had slipcovers found the one-piece covers slip around as much as a throw, and so needed straightening after every use.

- Furniture stores know what they are talking about with measurements so I would trust them. They also know whether the piece has anything removable that could make it fit and apparently this piece will not. Work with them to find something you like as well that will fit. I worked in high end furniture stores and the biggest issue was getting people to understand what would fit and not. Also be very aware of the pieces size in the room you want it to go in. If could be way too large for the room as well.

- I'd say sofa and loveseat. Sectionals usually have loose cushions that get thrown around a lot with kids and often look sloppy! A durrable sofa combo with attached cushions and washable upholstery is your best bet for a family!

- You may want to purchase a futon sofa cushion. The cushion should be the thickest one to purchase. It is about 10 and cost around $100- $200 in USD. Or contact a furniture store to help. I know those things get worn pretty quickly when you use it for every day use. P. S. Keep the old cushion for greater support if you find one trhat fits your needs and hopefully it will help the new cushion stay in shape longer too. I recycle what I can, so I hope this works for you.
