You could, in theory, get carborundum grit (or diamond grit for some stones) and a steel or iron plate and mount the raw stone on a handle (dap stick with dapping wax) and push it back and forth to facet it. You might get one done in a year or so. Go and learn about lapidary and the tools for handling precious and semi-precious minerals.
