Q:Should I keep my steel cents as an investment?
They'd never be worth much for their steel content, likely always less than face value. They might be worth a premium as coins, but not anything you'd call an investment.
Q:Who invented the steel windmill?
The Steel Eclipse Type WG was the first of several self-oiling steel windmills marketed by Fairbanks, Morse, and Company after they became the distributor of all the Eclipse mills about the start of the 20th Century. It has the more important distinction of having been the only widely distributed worm-gear mill in the history of American windmill manufacture. Produced from about 1926 to the mid-1930's, the Steel Eclipse remains in the field today in considerable number in most parts of the country. Hope this helps!
Q:can i heat treat and temper ASTM A36 steel?
A36 is plain carbon structural steel. A36 could almost be considered junk steel. It is not suitable for cutting tools in any respect, as it is far to soft to hold an edge. A36 generally cannot be heat-treated, A36 can only be strengthened by cold-working, and even then, only up to about 60,000 psi. Heating the steel will only make it softer. The only real virtue of A36 is that it's easy to work with, it's easily cut and machined and it is very easy to weld. This is good for making steel structure, but not for knives. Probably the most popular material for knife blades is type 440C stainless. 440C is easy to work with in the un-treated state, and the heat treatment procedure is relatively simple.
Q:Steel horse shoes vs. aluminum?
Steel is not much different to be honest as long as you aren't doing any special shoes. A horse like yours I would probably stick in some steel eventers and go on your way. That's about average and honestly between a comparable aluminum shoe you won't see a difference in his movement unless the farrier starts messing with breakovers and shoeing him different. There are few times when I will do aluminum and all of it has to do with special circumstances. My 4 year old is in aluminums on his front right now because his special shoes are close to an 3/4 thick and about an inch wide. In steel those shoes would be very heavy, but those are what he works best in compared to the steel. I can give him more of the support he needs with the aluminum than I can with the steel. I also prefer eggbars, hartbars, etc to be done in aluminum for the sheer size of the shoe. Steel lasts more resets and it's stronger than aluminum. Aluminum is useful for therapuedic shoes. So you all have the pros and cons, but a horse in shoes with no special needs is a horse who should just stay in steel.
Q:Danielle steel..................................................................?
I love her books, and your ok. Read one now, you'll love it.
Q:how simple is it to recycle steel?
I think the melting point of steel is quite high into the two thousand degree F range. If you don't have something that can generate that heat and handle the molten result, you will find recycling scrap iron/steel to be very difficult. The best way to recycle metals is to find a scrap yard that will pay you by the pound for your collected scraps. From there the metals will go to sites which have the giant machinery required to start those metals into a new life. In short, it is not simple to recycle steel or iron.
Q:Copper pots....tin or stainless steel lined?
Stainless steel is durable and does not disolve and make things taste funny. Stainless steel is not a good conductor of heat, so it has hot and cold spots. Copper is very good conductor. They noe bond copper to stainless steel to get the best features of each. Some pots just have a very thin copper plating to fool you. A good pot will be heavier, It is really hard to tell from looking.if it is plating or a bonded layer of copper. the thicker the better
Q:Which is stronger - sterling silver or stainless steel?
Advantages of sterling silver: * This metal is quite easy for jewelry-makers to work with; therefore, it is simpler for them to create more intricate types of pieces with sterling silver. * The tarnish that can develop on sterling silver is well-liked by some people. Disadvantages of sterling silver: * The aforementioned tarnish is not so well-liked by other people; some people dislike how sterling silver looks as it ages. * Because this material is so soft, it is susceptible to dings, dents, and scratches. Advantages of stainless steel: * Stainless steel pieces will not oxidize or tarnish at all. * Many people find it to be shinier than sterling silver because it offers great light reflection when it is polished to look like chrome. * Stainless steel can also be brushed to look like pewter, too. * Stainless steel is extremely durable and will resist dents, scratches, and chips better than most any other jewelry material. * The cost of stainless steel is quite affordable - much more so than jewelry pieces made from other materials. Disadvantages of stainless steel: * People may know that you have not spent a lot of money on a piece of jewelry (this may or may not be an issue for some jewelry wearers).
Q:Is carbon steel strong?
The term carbon steel by itself doesn't mean much. All steel has carbon in it. The definition of steel is iron that has been heated and had carbon dissolved into it and trapped on cooling into its atomic matrix. The amount of carbon in a particular piece of steel does have an effect on its properties. The more carbon it has, the harder it is, but also the more brittle it is. So you can have a high carbon steel blade which is very hard, and holds a great edge, but is likely to break. Or you can have a low carbon steel blade that is very tough and hard to break, but dulls easily. Your real, traditional samurai swords were made to have a core of low carbon steel, jacketed with an outer layer of high carbon steel. Thus they were very strong and hard to break, yet had an extremely hard, sharp edge. If that's what you have you can probably whack away to your hearts content. But you probably have some kind of homogenous steel reproduction type blade. What you can do depends on what steel was used.
