Q:we need to know if we don't connect the red wire and just cap it off.
Get a volt meter and test between the white wire (place probe on white wire) and the red and black wire and see if you have power to either or both if both just chose either black or red and cap the other off, or see if one of the colors is attached to a switch, that should connect to a light kit if you have one, the connection should be between the white and one of the colors the green is the ground and gets attached to the ground wire on the fan.
Q:im installing a line out converter on my 2006 avalnche and i need to know which wires go to the right and left rear speakers so i can install it, do you know which is wire goes to where?

Q:What does insulated wire do?How does it differ from regular wire used on breadboards?
Insulated wire is .... insulated. That is, it has a layer of plastic or rubber around it so that there is no exposed metal (except at the ends) and thus minimizes the shock hazard, and also helps prevent accidental shorts between wires. Non insulated wire is bare, it has no insulation, it's just a thin copper bar. You can use either on breadboards, so I don't know what you mean by regular wire. .
Q:Wiring together 200 + different colored LEDs. Voltage per LED ranges from 2.5 - 3.6. What is the best way to go about wiring them together and what type of power source should i use?
how the hell should i know?
Q:Peugeot Speedfight 2, How can i find out what colour wire is fuel? indicators? .. Would it all be shown on the wiring diagram?
Why do no longer you get a volt meter verify the battery voltage with bike became off then commence it and re-verify the voltage if there's no substitute its the alternator, it may develop as much as 13- 13.5 The alternator on a scooter is the magneto its below the flywheel and there very high priced. you may get a multimeter for between a 5 -10 quid
Q:what are the ground and power wires for a walmart replacement cigarette lighter?
In answer to your question, there is no difference in the wires because a lighter element isn't polarized, in other words, hook either wire to positive, and the other to ground. That's why both wires are black.
Q:i have old wiring for a stove that iam putting in ,a new box but i have only 3 wires 2 of them are white and 1 black how should i connect on a 4 wire receptacle? on the receptacle 1 white 1 green, 4 a ground then it says x then y ???????
You don't connect the 3 wires to the 4 wire receptacle. You leave the receptacle that was installed in the house alone and get a new cord for the stove. You need a 3 wire cord and what you do is on the stove, you connect the white and green (neutral and ground) wires together to the white on the 3 wire cord. Doing anything other than re-wiring from the electrical panel to the stove would be dangerous to you everytime you turned on the stove. Put the receptacle back the way it was. Any problems, call an electrician to fix it and be honest cuz he'll know you're lying as soon as he looks at what is going on. Are you sure that there are 2 white wires? Is one of them accidentally painted white by the painters that originally painted your house? There should be a black wire, a red wire and a white or uncovered copper or aluminum wire. The black connects to X and the red to Y. The green and white wire on the stove connect to what they called ground when we were wiring houses with 3 wire systems. Connected any other way could cause you to get shocked everytime you turned the stove on.....or worse, you could die. If you don't understand what you're doing, stop and have a friend call a friend who knows a friend that is an electrician and pay the guy his hourly rate which shouldn't be more than $25 to hook this up for you.
Q:Hi,I'm trying to install a ceiling light with a 3 wire configuration (white, black, ground) into a wire configuration of 4 wires (white, red, black, ground). This is configured for two on/off switches. So far, I have white to white, black to black, and ground to ground with the red capped off. This works with one switch perfectly, however when I hit the other switch, the circuit breaker blows. Please help, and thank you!
captain skalleywag is right. if the switch was originally set up for a fan the red wire is for the light and the black is for the fan. but if it is a 3 way fixture then the wiring is different. are both switches in the same junction box. if they are it is set up for a fan. if there is another switch on an opposite wall it is a three way.
Q:i want to install a new light in a old house.the problem is that there are three black wires coming out of he ceilng.the old light fixture has two black wires. two ceiling wires are connected to one fixture wire and the other ceiling wire i connected to he other fixture wire.i dont know which is the hot wire and which is the comon wire.also the new light has a ground wire ,2 blue wires and 2 white wires but, there is no ground wire coming out of the box. please help
a wire is a wire is a wire! the coatings were only put on to keep the continuity in sync. if you have all these blk wires, 2 go into 1 and connected to the lite and the other is connected to the lite, and there is no gnd wire. the 2 are running thru to another lite along the way as they did in those days. don't disconnect them, keep them together and call that your power/red or blk, the single coming down to the lite is the common/white...get tape and mark them so. electrical tape comes in colors. now you won't have that prob in the future. as for the gnd, you should have a metal box, just screw to that. at last resort if you have an attic, run a grn/gnd wire from a water pipe of someplace that will ground and wire nut it off. any Q shoot me an email...
Q:I'm faced with a dilemma...I'm wiring my basement right now and all is fine, except for my living room. I want to have a 3-way switch setup, but with four light fixtures. I've already ran 3+ground wires in this order...Breaker box - Switch A - Fixture 1 - Fix. 2 - Fix. 3 - Fix. 4 - Switch B. I have done regular 3-way switches in the past, without much trouble, but I have no idea how to wire this, so well-explained instructions would be perfect. Thanks so much!
A normal three way has two wires switch to switch and one wire from each switch to the single light. All you have to do is wire the lights in parallel, Each wire will go to one side of all three lights. The light to light wiring is no different then any other multiple light on one switch wiring. Except in this situation the two wires are coming from two different switches.
