6. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one
more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.
7. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?
Currently used in the bathroom tiles with glazed tiles (mainly from price considerations, some high-end can choose tiles, notice to choose tiles), divided into Shinny and Matt two kinds. Light color makes people feel shinny, but the bathroom more appropriate to create a warm feeling, so the best choose is uses matte, the shinny feels more soft and not dazzling.
- Q:I need to repair my shower, about 6 tiles fell off. I‘m currently drying the drywall with a fan. Whats the best way to glue tile back on the wall?
- First of all I would look at the wall behind where the tile has came off. If your house is old or installation was poor they may not have the proper material behind the tile, as in the wall. If it is sheetrock, no wonder! You need either greenboard or dur-rock behind it that is the code. Anyways, once you find this out see if it's only sheetrock behind it, it won't do you any good to stick em back up. Which if the material behind is fine than just get some match stick at home depot that's cheap but creates a nasty mess. Or grab a small bag of thinset which you mix with water or some will require an extra additive which will be where ever you go for the thin set. You can get this stuff at Home Depot or Lowes while your there I 'd grab a trowel with 3/8 knotch spacers and your grout. Hopefully all of the peices were full peices. If not your gonna have to borrow a hand held maquita or cutter or saw. Make sure your rows with trowel are even with through out your spread. If you are using thinset, you have to apply thinset to wall and tile. Obviously you stick the tile first grab some sort of extra scrap to spread them appropriately. Wait a day for the thinset to set up and the next day pull out your wedges or spacers and grout. Good luck. Chic

- I think I understand your question, the tiles you can't skate on unless you have roller hockey skates, it's called sport court. I play roller hockey and ice and the tiles for roller SUCK! If I were you I'd just go fin a certain kind of paint I can't recall the name of the brand, but paint the garrage floor with it and you can skate in there and stick handle if you have enough room. - Q:Kent has a 2-ft by 2-ft square floor to cover with tiles. He has 38 tiles. - Havn't been in an Math class in 4 years now... I'm saying 4 - 4x4 squares will be the smallest amount possible. 16 2x8 right triangles would be the same as 8 2x8 rectangles that = 128 inches, from the 2ftx2ft Square would leave 448 inches. the 10 4x8 rectangles would be 320 inches, leaving 128 inches to fill 8 of the 12 4x4 squares would equal exactly 128 inches and would leave 4 4x4 squares with all area filled. Sounds good, might be missing somthing though.

- You can attach tile directly to masonry, it has been done all over the world for centuries (Italy, Spain, Middle East all use tile on the exterior of buildings...) I would assume normal thin-set mortar would work, but I believe it would depend on the exact type of masonry- concrete block or clay brick. A thicker adhesive bed will likely be necessary to smooth over the rough surface, but because of the relatively porous surface of most types of masonry your bond should be excellent. My only word of caution would be if you have any cracks in the masonry. Make sure they are not active (widening and narrowing), which may occur with temperature and humidity swings. Either way, you may choose to weld the crack with epoxy to prevent any crack movements that may telegraph through your tile and crack it. - Ceramic tile is a great choice and you can do it yourself if you prepare yourself with a little knowledge and a few tools. My suggestion is to go to Home Depot or any other building supply place and pick up the information they have there on doing tile work. It is usually pretty good and will suggest tools you will need. The biggest problems you will run into is cutting the tile, you might consider renting a water bath cutter. I also suggest you consider going with a smaller tile if it will fit into your plans. Tile that big is not only harder to install neatly but is also more prone to cracking if there is any shifting in your slab. So read the stuff and make sure you have everything on hand before you start and be patient doing the work, especially making the cuts so it fits neatly and you will have a professional looking floor.
- Q:Well I grouted my glass tile backsplash today and let it dry, now it is ready to be cleaned off, but i am completely exhausted! can i clean it off tomorrow or will it be too late? grout container said to let it dry for 4 hrs before cleaning off with a dry cloth. yeah right, a dry cloth does not do the trick. only a damp linen cloth used to scrub each individual little tile gets the haze and bits of left over grout off and that is going to literally take me all night. so can i do that tomorrow or do i need to pull an all nighter???
- I know you're tired but you'll be glad you did it tonight. Once grout dries out it is harder than h#ll. You'll be scraping grout till the cows come home and worrying about scratching your tile the whole time. Use some white vinegar to damp you cloth. It will help loosen the grout and clean the tile nicely while you're at it.
