- Q:I‘m having a small bathroom remodled. The floor isn‘t perfectly rectangular, there are some uneven areas because of the tub. I would like the opinion of a profession tiler (should there be one put there, somewhere)...should the floor tiles always be centered, or start lined up against a wall? Also, should the grout be completely dry before sealing it? Thanks.
- You start from the centre always and lay tiles towards the edges. At the tub you take off the removable side and put the tiles under the tub a few inches. Refit the side but will need to take off some of the bottom edge. Get the first tiles exactly square and away you go. Grout should be dried out for at least 3 days before adding a sealant. Also before laying tiles cover the area with 6mm ply wood so that the whole floor is even otherwise you will/might get uneven tiles. Happy New Year.
- Q:This is a first time tiling job. Does anyone have any tips to how to properly lay tile?
- sorry i have know clue maybe you could research the Internet for some help.
- Q:I've tiled the walls and floors in my bathroom and want to install a tile baseboard. what kind of adhesive would work. Thanks
- Both glazed Bathroom Ceramic Tiles can be laid directly onto a concrete floor, as long as the floor is dry and in good sound condition. After the floor has been nicely prepared what now? Well, the next step is to start laying out those tiles of yours. If you want the end result to look professional, then careful setting out of the tiles will be required. Now here comes the part of installing the Bathroom Ceramic Tiles which isn't a very complex job. Instructions on how to lay the Bathroom Ceramic Tiles, arrange, cement and other attributes are all over the Internet or home improvement guides. At the onset, you need to find the center of the floor and lay the tiles from there as it creates a feeling of visual symmetry. When arranging the tiles, you must make sure that the Bathroom Ceramic Tiles design is laid such that it creates continuity in the design. And yes, ensure that your tiles blend with the color of the wall or the general theme of your bathroom wall and the fittings. You could also install a tile heater to give your feet the warmth as you step on it, a very good feature to have especially during winters or to avoid that sharp chill you'd encounter early in the morning. You could also use a relatively warm color shade to offset the cool look of the bathroom fixtures.
- Q:What type, brand and or size ceiling tiles should be used in a commercial kitchen and bathroom
- Standard Ceiling Tile # 1 Commercial Ceiling Tiles on the market! Fire resistant class A! Keeps cooler in summer! Saves on heating in winter! No more flaking or peeling! Moisture and mildew resistant! Interior or exterior applications! No more leaks yellowish stains! Bright white color, washable and paintable! Standard Ceiling Tiles offers cost effective, longer lasting solutions for all types of ceilings, including stores, restaurants, and offices, along with residential applications.
- Q:how do you clean up ceramic tiles? they dont seem to shine but look very dull whenever i clean it with water and soap. is there a product i can use to clean them and at the same time leave them shining?
- Most soaps leave a film on tiles I purchased a steam mop, just cleans the tires with steam and leaves no film or residue, they look like they did when they were first laid. See if you can borrow one from some one to give it a try. You will love it. Good Luck
- Q:We are building a tile shower and we have gotten it framed the way we want it. We haven‘t installed the backerboard or tiles yet, just the studs are placed. Do we need to backerboard and tile the sides where the door will be, or can we install the shower door directly to the bare wood studs?
- Tile out even with the threshold. Your bull nosing (SBN) should come right down atop your sill so that every thing will line up. You then can drill w/ a masonry bit thru the tile or grout line and into the studding thats at the end of the sill. Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and check my qualifications GL
- Q:I am wanting to put ceramic tile at the top of my shower, where the drywall meets the shower. I have no clue where to start. What will I need? How long should this take?
- Before concrete-masonry board was even invented, tiles were glued right onto drywall -- even painted drywall. There may be some new-fangled surface prep material you could get for painted drywall -- ask the dudes at Home Depot, Ace, Tru Value, or Lowes (or other hardware / home-improvement store) to see if there is some material you spread on the painted drywall to make the mastick stick better. .
- Q:The ceramic tile in my shower is looking really shabby and I‘d like to re-do it in subway tiles on the walls and mini hexagonal tiles on the floor. Has anyone ever re-tiled an old shower? What should I keep in mind? It is a single story house that is about 30 years old and I beleive it is all the original stuff.
- Most of the stores like Home Depot and Lowes actually have classes to show you how to do this sort of thing. They will even show you how to use the tools. Remember it is going to tie up your shower for a weekend at least, so make arrangements with a friend to use their shower !It's a hellofa job but when it's done you feel awesome! The removal and prep is a lot harder than the repacement. Very messy so make sure you have a good shop vacuum handy and those little face masks too. You are gonna love this.
- Q:When the stick on tiles have come loose you get ready to re-glue them. What exactly do you clean the cement under neath them or do you just scrape it clean?
- Acetone is a very strong solvent that will kill and loosen most adhesives. It will burn and dry out skin so use some chemical resistant gloves when using ( same with xylol or most other chemicals). If the tile are good and you just want to re-glue them, I'd suggest using some vinyl glue adhesive to glue down the tile. That will probably be your best glue to use. Just make sure to read and follow the instructions because the good glue works like a contact glue - it must dry for a while before laying the tile. I hope that this helped you out.
- Q:6 blocks, 12 mirrors, 3 white tiles.
- i've got been blocked with the aid of human beings while hitting their questions and in many circumstances i'm thinking who the hell ARE you?? i've got been blocked for the stupidest of motives so attempt to not difficulty approximately it.
