1. For the delivery term, could you go with CFR our port?

- Q:We want to pull out our carpeting and use self stick linoleum tiles. What do we need to know?

- When installing floor tiles you have to have the right surface under them. You would need either a self leveling cement surface applied or cement board installed first before the tile is installed. If this wasn't done first the floor below the tiles will absorb moisture and expand and contract from the different humidity levels causing the tiles to break loose.

One is to have the proper support so the tile won t break and the second is because its fire code ( unless this is a sealed gas fireplace) to have a non combustible in front of the fire place.. There are codes on how big this must be also. Not doing so could possible void any fire insurance you have if a fire should occur.. As far as fixing the carpet it s best to turn and tack the carpet to the tile.. You ll need a carpet installer to do this.. I hope you put a thick sheet down on the tub before you starting banging the old ones off though... before you re-tile, totally clean the tub and make sure there are no chips out of it... it's a pain to replace a tub when you just put up all new tiles. Best way I found to remove them is a floor scraper (thicker than a putty knife) and a hammer... just tap the scraper at the end of the handle and let 'em fly.... have fun... reno's are great!

- what the tile store quoted you is the price of the material only. depending on the area of the country you live in, tile installation prices vary. labor prices can range from $2-$10 a square foot depending on the size of the tiles, any pattern you may choose (brick pattern, diagonaly, etc), the type of material you choose (i charge upwards of $15 per foot for glass tiles. i know you are talking floor tiles, and i know you didn't pick a glass tile, but i've seen it done, and believe me, it's well worth $15 a foot!). moving furniture can incur an additional charge; save this money by clearing the room yourself. any floor prep can be additional. if your floor is off-grade (as in not a concrete slab, or you are referring to an upstairs room) then an installer will charge additional for the cost and installation of an underlayement, which is required for tile if installed over plywood. talk with anyone you know who has had ceramic tile installed recently and see who they might recommend. the tile store might offer recommendations as well. get about 3 before you commit to an installer. to giver you a general idea on prices--if you choose a 16 inch tile to be installed over concrete on a straight pattern (square tiles, not diagonal or diamond pattern), you're looking to pay about $3-5 labor per square foot. good luck!

- hello, this is how we compute it: for a 1600 sq. ft.:--- example: GIVEN .30mx .30m. ceramic tiles = 1ft. x 1ft. ceramic tiles price per tile: 1 dollar total area: 1600 sq. ft. plus 10% allowance (this is reserved for damaged tiles or any defects) 1600 x .10 = 160 - allowance 1600 + 160= 1760 sq. ft. size of material: 1ft. x 1ft. = 1 sq. ft. per tile number of tiles: (total area divided by size of material) 1760 sq. ft. / 1 sq. ft = 1760 pcs. of ceramic tiles price: 1760 pcs of ceramic tiles X 1 dollar = 1760 dollars i hope this helps. :)
