Q:How hard is it to lay tile?
Are you laying ceramic tile or vinyl or laminate? Ceramic tile can be a do it yourself job, but it's hard and you need a wet saw and cement backer board to make sure it will lay right and that you can cut the tiles. Laminate flooring is much easier to install, but you still have to measure and prepare the surface so it's flat and so that the tiles won't shift. Sheet laminate can be easier overall, but all flooring requires a lot of prep work, and it's always more expensive than you think it will be. With that said, it can also change the entire look of a room which is good! GOOD LUCK!!!!
Q:When installing a tile floor. Should?
I like to leave a space between the cabinet and tile the same as the groutlines. About the crack. You can grind all the loose stuff off it and fill it with cement or something like that. but I've found that if the crack keeps getting bigger (if the house settles any more) there is nothing you can do except when the tile cracks replace it
Q:Where can I purchase 6 or 8 inch Hexagon shaped ceramic tile?
Those okorder.com/
Q:Laying tile?
It depends where you're starting from... you should put a mesh and scratch coat down first... this could add up to 1/4 depending on how thick you lay the mortar in to level out the imperfections in the floor... then the tile should sit on that with a notched trowel application of the set mortar... so another 1/16 or so... then the thickness of the tile on top of that.... the grout isn't higher so... Hope this helps with the calculation...
Q:can you put tile over tile on the kitchen floor?
As long as the existing tile is not cracked, has missing chips, free from grease and dirt and has been vacuumed you won't have a problem putting new tile over it. Also you want to make sure the existing tile is not loose in spots. Yeah, a few new tiles might lose their grip and come up.....in about forty years. We did the same in 1974. I am now in the process of a remodel and a few of them came loose. Must have been a bad batch of tiles! Lol. You'll be fine.
Q:cleaning a kitchen tile back splash?
magic erasers are great for this sort of thing. if it's ceramic tile they sell this stuff that works really good call tile guard. use apply a thin coat to the entire area (grout included) let it dry and wipe off with a damp sponge. this also is a good way to clean your grout. regardless if it's on the floor or being used as a backsplash.....I wouldn't suggest painting ceramic tile if doesn't work and the paint won't stick.
Q:Victorian Tiles - What Varnish/Sealant?
Most tile have a glazed finish so unless it dose not have it,it will be difficult to seal. You don`t mention wheat her its wall or floor tiles,if it wall tiles you might get away with it.If it floor tiles I think it will cause a problem by walk over it.
Q:How to pull up tile to save money on cost to install new tile?
I`m with Scooby, in that, you may no longer shop a lot doing the prep your self. relies upon on the installer. even as i replaced into laying carpet it replaced right into a given that i'd do all of it lined interior the cost of the carpet. this isn't to assert the shop did`nt charge for it `tho, so be careful of hiring an installer by a keep. i'd even if bypass to a carpet shop and ask them how a lot an installer receives for the artwork you stated. you could also get business enterprise playing cards of installers on your section on the instant. in case you *fairly* want to shop a gaggle, why no longer selfmade? I propose the setting up.........? in case you detect you purely Can`t Do a step or 3 *Then* call interior the experts. As stated before, I have Years of adventure setting up both floor tile and carpet, as well as ceramic tile for baths etc. in case you`d want to DIY I`ll be happy to percentage what i recognize. you could deliver me %. or diagrams to my e mail and that i might want to also help you step-through-step with it. I`m no longer useful if %. may be printed in the following. all of us? reliable success with it! I *recognize* you'd be pleased with it. RT
Q:I want to buy tile for my kitchen how much do I get?
Multiply the length by the width of the room, and that will give you the total square footage. If you are doing it in peel back tiles, it is 12 inch, and they are called vynal stick down tiles. (so if your square footage is 400 square feet, you will need 400 tiles) It would probably be best to stick with a 12 inch tile whether you use ceramic tile or stick down. You might also consider to do floating or laminate flooring, we are doing that in our kitchen next week. The guys at Lowes can help you calculate how much you need. Laminate flooring needs a padding, but it snaps together faster, and is less mess than grout. If you kitchen floor is in good condition, you can lay laminate over it. If your old flooring is lynoleum, you could lay the padding over it and then lay the laminate flooring over that. I think it is best to remove the old flooring though. If you are doing stick down tiles, you are going to have to do a wooden under layment. Probably 1/4 inch lugan (sp?) It is really smooth. Or 1/4 inch underlayment made for stick down tiles. I think it comes in 4x4 sheets. The only way you could skip the underlayment is if the lynoluem doesn't have a pattern, and is totally smooth, because if you lay tile over old flooring it is likely to pop up over time. So you have to glue and secure the underlayment every 6 inches, with something like liquid nails or ring shanked nails for underlayment. You know it might be better to tell me what kind of flooring you are going to use and then let me take it from there. The floating flooring is the easiest to do if you don't have a lot of experience in flooring. Can you repost your question and give me more details, so I can answer better.
