- You can go to the upper left hand corner and click the apple then go to system prenfrences -keyboard and mouse, see if it is detected as a keyboard. First see if the Number Lock, Caps Lock are working. Does the light turn on? Make sure you have Number lock OFF. Have you spilled anything on the keyboard? Sodas, juice? If you have, you prolly killed the circutry. I KNOW for a FACT, that you can go into the apple store and they have a lifetime warranty on any of their keyboards. You can go in and get the latest mouse an keyboard. Maybe even wireless ;) hope I helped.

- The system is still set to use the German keyboard layout. You have to change the default keyboard 'input source' to 'U.S.': – Open System Preferences-LanguageText – Go to the tab 'Input Sources'. You'll see a list of keyboard languages. Scroll down and check-mark the entry 'U.S.'. – If you don't want to use the German keyboard ever again, un-check the entry 'German'. In this case, the US keyboard will automatically be activated. – If you want to change occasionally, check the option 'Show input menu in menu bar.' This will display a little flag in the menu bar which you can click to get a menu of all keyboard languages that you have check-marked in the list of keyboard languages.

- It could be either, by the sound of things. There is an easy way to determine which is defective: Turn your computer off. Select a USB port and hook your keyboard up to it. Now Turn on your computer. If the keyboard works, well problem solved. If not, then turn your computer back off. Take any other device with a USB adapter, cable, jack, ect. and plug it into the SAME USB port you previously have your keyboard in. If the device works, then the keyboard is broken. A simple fix (that most people would choose) is just to buy a new keyboard in this case. You can get one at your local computer store for around $10 for a basic one. In the mean time you can use the On-Screen Keyboard which any windows computer has if you do a search (found in different locations depending on Operating System). This is assuming your keyboard IS broken. If the previous experiment didn't render your keyboard broken, then ask a friend who knows about computers to check out your BIOS. If he/she is a computer person, they know what BIOS is. The reason I say a friend is because in all honesty, most computer repair services waaaay over-charge for the work they do. Some names come to mind (especially the ones that rhyme with Peek Quad). Non-the-less, If you get your BIOS looked at and your friend can't fix it, it may possibly be your motherboard. Hope it's not your motherboard, for that is not a cheap piece of equipment in terms of the average buyer. If it is your mother board, ask for more help, and I will provide. - Q:I have a Dell Vostro 1500, and the keyboard stopped working. It was working fine until I went on vacation for a week, and when I turned it on it ran diagnostic tests. It basically looks like a blue screen, and a loading bar. Then there is a bunch of colors on the screen and it asks can you see the color bars? (yes/no) The problem is I can't press either, because the keyboard doesn't work! How do I know if the keyboard works or not? Well, it turned on once without doing the tests, and it was then when I realized only a few keys on the keyboard work, sometimes. Anyway any help given would really help alot!!! Thanks!!!!

- hmmm, blowing out the usb ports might work, does the keyboard work on a regular computer? also you have to make sure the game you are using supports the keyboard, only certain games do. half life and rpg maker are the only two that come to my mind, ut neither of those go online.
