Q:Insulating Shed Roof?
If the roof has joists, which I imagine it would, you would put the bats of insulation into those spaces... these can then be stapled into place or if that isn't possible, you can run a wire between the joists to hold the bats in place. If using faced insulation be sure to put the paper side towards the warm area (inside) to prevent condensation.
Q:I need to know if I insulate the roof of my attached garage or just the ceiling?
Insulate the ceiling, not the roof. Place the vapor barrier (foil or heavy paper) facing the garage. For Alberta you want at least R-30, or 9" of fiberglass insulation. The garage should already have eave vents, hold the insulation away about a foot from them so the insulation does not block the air flow from them.
Q:Whats a good way to insulate water pipes on our roof?
they sell insulation at the home improvement stores. if you have tried that type then you will need to call a proffessional to insulate with fiberglass and wrap with tin protective cover. depends how cold it gets you may have to use heat tape also.
Q:Interior roof insulation.?
A typical composite shingle would get too hot if you insulated the roof directly underneath it, decreasing life of shingle. You want good air flow in attic, insulate above the ceilings only.
Q:should i put reflective insulation under my metal roofing?
rolled felt is not going to be as good as proper reflective insulation i dont think it would work
Q:mold in an attic,on roof decking,in insulation?
Are your bathroom exhaust fans blowing straight into the attic, maybe? Or your dryer vent?
Q:do I have to blow insulation in the roof of my mobile home if I install foam insulation under a meatle roof?
Some mobiles have a vented attic and some don't. If your attic is vented, the foam on the roof won't help insulate inside the house. I've blown insulation into a mobile home attic before (vented attic), but some mobiles one can't (not vented attic). There are different variations of attic venting, dictating if you can blow in or not. I would add insulation anyway, if you can, mobiles usually skimp on attic insulation, even if they are "certified".
Q:can i use a maximum 4" RIGID insulation to obtain an r-33 value on a commercial roof?
Nope. The DOW rigid insulation is an R-5/inch. So 4 inches gets you an R-20. Sorry.
Q:Why would a 1960's homebuilder use insulation on the roof rafters?
No building codes back then, and maybe he was thinking about putting an extra room up there then you would have to insulate the rafters also
Q:Metal roof condensation issue low budget? Spray-on insulation?
The problem might be resolved by venting the attic. You need to have an air exchange in the attic to prevent condensation.
