Q:my water pump is leaking how do i change it out
The internet in great - - - you wonder how they (whoever) can load so much info ! SO just Google :change water pump - 1989 cadillac deville and you'll get many sites with step-by-step instructions.
Q:Hey guys, I have a American Volkswagen Jetta 1999 manual transmission Gas Fuel, and the water pump is messed and I need to know where it goes. In front of the radiator? or somewhere else? Does anyone know where I can get any websites showing me instructions? Thanks.
Passengers side , bottom front of the motor. Just follow the lower rad hose and it`s right there. Not really to hard to change if you are somewhat mechanically inclined and can raise it off the ground a foot or 2
Q:the question i have is can the pump be turning and not leaking but not pump water??? i know the olden days (the good ole days) as long as the impeller was turning it would pump water! leaking seal is when it went bad,or locked up..like a box fan blade as long as it is turning its moving air...
I would first check to see if there is any circulation in the radiator, with motor cold and the radiator cap off start the engine and wait about 10 min watching the radiator opening there should be some circulation if not then you probably have a bad water pump or a stuck thermostat that is stuck closed
Q:Hello, i have a 1987 volkswagen cabriolet that i purchased earlier this year. So far its been a pain in the butt. Recently i noticed it overheats real quick, but it didnt use to. then i noticed the coolant/antifreeze was being used up like no other! I discovered, after being parked at work, that it was leaking.it leaks basically anything i put in there now!! it leaks from the water pump housing,.,.... at least thats what the internet said it was.. its leaking from the end of the hose that connects to the engine... (the hose that comes from the coolant reservoir.)What do i do? I dont feel any cracks? does this part crack? is it an o-ring or somehting? I am really absolutely NOTHING ABOUT CARS. Please help!!
HI It is an o-ring Loss the 4 bolts holding the pump and put some silicon glue on the o-ring and get it back.
Q:does anyone know how to remove the water pump on an 84 corvette its killing me
Step 1. Drain the anitifreeze, the fluids in the radiator, you will find a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. Dont trash this fluid as its harmful to the environment or reuse the fluid. 2. Disconnect the radiator hoses to the radiator and to the water pump. 3. Remove the radiator and fan shroud and transmission lines, it unbolts from the top. 4. Remove the bolts from the fan, remove the fan. 5. Loosen the altenator, A/C and power steeering pump enough to remove the belts. 6.Remove the 4 bolts holding the water pump to the engine, remove the water pump. 7. Let the water dry and clean where the water pump was as you will need a clean dry surface to apply the gaskets to. 8. Put the 4 bolts in the new water pump, put the gaskets on the toward engine side on the four bolts and install the new water pump. I dont know what the torque specs are, just dont over tighten and enough to break off a bolt. 9. Put the belts back on and tighten, reinstall the fan, the radiator and fan shroud and reinstall the hoses. Reinstall the transmission lines. Fill the radiator with anitifreez water mixture. 10. Start up the engine and allow the engine to warm up, keep the radiator cap off to detect the fill level. Fill when warm to about 1/2 inch to the top is a good level/Reinstall the cap. Finish
Q:I am planning to make a overflow box for my 55 gallon saltwater tank and need to know whats a good pump to get the water back up???
Rio pumps are inexpensive and are very very durable. I highly reccomend them. I keep my sump level fairly low so that when i see bubbles in the display tank cause the pump is sucking a little air, i remember to add top off water. My pump sucks air about once every other week prolly for a few hrs at a time, until i get home from work and its still going strong! (I know this isnt the best way to do it, but if i dont run it low enough for it to suck air i totally forget to add top off water). I havent had to replace the pump yet. I also replaced my outdoor garden fountain pump with a rio. It sucks up leaves and junk all the time with no problems (except when the leaves cover where it sucks the water but thats not the pumps fault lol)
Q:Where is the water pump located on a 1993 mitsubishi eclipse with a 1.8 motor
Your water pump would be located on the right hand side of the motor. It has the fan belt running on the pulley in front of it the top water hose is connected to it. I hope this has helped you out.
Q:When my wife was driving on freeway, the alternator belt broke and battery sign showed up. She also told that the temperature gauze showed high. Luckily she reached home with the battery fully charged. When I checked under hood, there was coolant spill surrounding water pump . I could not figure out where the coolant came from. Overnight parking did not show any further leakage of coolant. is there a need to change the water pump also.
Depends. On older vehicles they used multiple drive belts for the different components (my '88 Caprice had 3 belts), but most newer vehicles only use 1 belt called a serpentine belt which drives multiple components (my '00 Dodge Ram 1500) If you lose your serpentine belt it will set the battery light as the alternator is not outputting the correct system voltage, and since the same belt drives the water pump then yes the car will overheat. It's dangerous to keep driving like that, most newer cars have aluminum heads which will warp when they get tooooo hot = expensive repair
Q:My house uses a pump that draws well water. With a family of four, I had never had a problem running out of water, even through 4 morning showers. Recently however, I have started running low and sometimes even run dry of water, although it’s now just me and my wife living at home. The pump is only a couple of years old. A couple of neighbors also have wells and pumps, so I don’t believe the water shelf has run low. The holding tank is at least 15 years old and probably older. I don’t know if it has a bladder, but I think it does. It’s a Wel-Trol brand. I’ve checked the pressure with a tire gauge and it holds at 30 psi. Also, it seems the cut in and out switch has a mind of its own. It especially would continue to run, even though the pressure hit cut-off level. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks
Hmmmmm. I think I would look at the pressure switch here if you can confirm that the well does have adequate water in it. The next thing is the small pipe that the pressure switch mounts on. If it is galvanized these have a tendancy over the years to build up deposits and rusty scale and may need to be replaced. It sounds like you have the bladder style of pressure tank and that is a good thing. To check the proper pressure in the bladder watch to see the cut off pressure of the pump as it cycles. Note this. Turn the pump off and completely drain off the pressure tank. Check and adjust the pressure at the top of the Wel-Trol to be 2 to 4 pounds less than the pressure cutoff that you noted using compressed air. As the other posts have mentioned you also may have a leak in the pressure line to your house. The way to test this is turn off all the water to the house and see if there is a check valve in the T at the pressure tank. It will look like a tube about 2 inches in diameter and 4 inches long. Usually there is not one here as they clack when the pump shuts off. If there is not one note the pressure. See if it drops. There should be no drop. If it is a drilled well there may be a leak in the pipe down the well and this usually requires a visit from a well servicing company to determine. Hope this helps.
Q:So my daughter's car is an 02 Accord manual with about 127k miles. It's making a squeaky noise which apparently is the belts. The dealer says they're too tight, but are in okay condition. They want to change the water pump and adjust the belts for $750. This seems a bit steep to me. Does the water pump need to be changed if it's working properly? How much should it cost to adjust the belts? I'm thinking she should find a more reasonable shop. What are your thoughts?
Okay, there are two things going on here. First, the squealing. That would be the drive belt or belts. That's a completely separate issue from the timing belt. If the timing belt, which you can't see, has never been changed, it's probably a good idea to get it done. THAT is the expensive part because they generally change the water pump and other things while that part of the engine is torn to pieces. 750's a good price. If the timing belt breaks the engine is toast.
