Q:Wood stove-what clearance is needed from a wall with cement board and ceramic tiles on it (in Canada)? Thx?
In WA state, with a *certified* wood stove, the clearence is anywhere from 18 to 24 inches. You can put anything non-combustable on that wall... tile, rock, brick, Z brick, or metal plating with 1 air space from backer board. You could always check with the court house to find out what your local building codes are.
Q:When building a tile shower. On walls, can I use poly behind cement board and redguard on top?? Too Much??
Tile council of America calls for a vapor barrier behind the cement board ..The red guard your talking about should and must be used on any horizontal surface in a wet area.. There are other agents like red guard but I v used it many times and had great luck w/ it..Making sure the proper pitch is used for the horizontal surface GL
Q:Kerdi for tile, vs. cement backer board?
I am assuming you are going with ceramic tile. If that is the case then you do not need fiberboard. Just tile right to the concrete floor. As for the crack either fill it in or use a product called RedGaurd. RedGaurd is a rubberized product that when applied over the crack will expand and contract and thus keep the crack covered. You can apply RedGaurd then put mortar right over it.
Q:My cement board and surrounding drywall are different thicknesses?
Yes you float it and float it back a bit on the durock. Use the same thinset mortar that you use for the tile. Never use a mastic as some hackers may suggest.Mastic is a water soluble product and will fail in a wet area such as a shower. What I do if the area permits is to put a pc of painters tape on the edge of the dry wall. Leave room for cement board tape. Then float the ares and pull off the painters tape and run the SBN over the durock tape edge and onto the dry wall just a bit to cover all and make a clean transition. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Loft mezzanine floor with good or good cast steel
Good steel structure, the main advantages of steel fire, moisture, water, pest control, anti-ants, sound insulation effect, life expectancy of up to 60 years. Easy to cut, easy construction, load per square meter up to 3 tons, in the emerging LOFT structure is widely used
Q:Lightweight composite wallboard can not be attached to the wall
Light composite wall panels, is for modern high-rise buildings, ecological residential interior space, size and structure, and the development and production of solid light wall panels, due to its unique performance characteristics, the market also known as "light composite wall panels "," Light wall panels "," solid wall panels "," composite wall panels "," strip wall panels "and other names, hereinafter referred to as lightweight composite wall panels.
Q:Decoration works: 1 cm thick cement pressure plate seal cylinder how much money a square meter, who knows ah
Cement pressure board is a 48 up and down 2.8 square, artificial 26 / square + auxiliary material 15 up and down, the total price of about 55-70
Q:If I put two 12ft 2x4 in 5 gallon bucket of cement to make a sign will it be to heavy and tip?
I am okay with the 5 gallons of concrete, that will weigh close to 100 lbs per bucket. I would use 1.5 - 2 inch pvc pipe, not 2x4's. That will give you better flex. For the banner, it is up so high that the wind loading and leverage will be a problem if you tie all four corners. So just connect the two poles with a rope at the top and hang the sign from the rope. This way in a wind, the bottom will just blow free. If you must tie the banner at 4 corners, you need a flatter container of concrete. An old tire, filled with concrete, will work for this purpose. Put a piece of plywood across the tire so it will hold the concrete. That's what we used for tether ball.
Q:SNOW AND CEMENT B BOARD?
I built a tile inlay on my deck for my grills. It's held up through 3 Wisconsin winters so far. I used pressure treated plywood for a base, then installed Durock over the plywood. Use Flexbond thinset for adhering the tiles. My neighbor owns a flooring store, and he set me up with an epoxy grout. You have to work it quickly to avoid a mess, but it's very durable. Hope this helps. EDIT: I would recommend using the plywood to give the Durock additional support. If you can enlarge the opening enough to wrap the Durock around the edge, you should be good. The tile and Durock should provide enough protection to keep the plywood from burning. If that will be an issue, you can screw some pressure treated 2x4's along the length of the metal frame, spaced every 16 or so, and then screw the Durock to that. This will give the top support so it won't deflect under the weight of the tile and snow, and keep the tile from popping. Good luck.
Q:Can I paint Cement Board?
i put green board in in 97 and painted it twice. its still good. Green board is 6 foot to 9 feet above standup shower.
