- Bleach shouldn't ruin the tile but then again I don't know what kind of tile you have. There are grout cleaners at Home Depot or Lowes that should do the trick for you. Sometimes getting a professional to come in and polish the floor is a good idea depending on how much work is involved.
- Q:im going to tile the floor next weekend with 16x16 ceramic tile, and i could use some advice2 questions actually...1. when i lay my backerboard, and tape the staggered seams, do i keep that thinset over the tape very thin? im afraid of a hump in the floor when i go to lay tile.2. how much pressure do i apply when seting the tiles in the thinset? ive seen websites that show very little pressure..and some that show alot of pressure. does it need to float on the thinset or mash it down in the thinset. i just want this to turn out good...its my 1st time, and ive done alot of research, but the information varies from person to person. any added advice or tips on this project would be greatly appreciated.
- There is a really neat product called anti-fracture membrane available at most tile stores or in the tile section at home depot. The product is applied with a roller over your substrate whether concrete or backer board. A couple coats will prevent cracks from telegraphing up through your floor and prevent moisture from migrating up or down. Thinset is applied directly over the membrane. At work we trowell the thinset as flat as possible, no more than 1/2 thick and no more than 1/4 high. We also apply thinset to the back of the tile to insure a good bond. You shouldn't have to press the tile down very hard. Apply firm and even pressure to the tile pressing it down to your line. You can tap lightly on the tile to check for voids, you can hear if it is hollow. If you have to press really hard or if lots of thinset squeezes up between the tiles use less thinset. It can be frustrating at first but after a few tiles you should get the hang of it. A bucket of clean water and a sponge are helpful as even the best of us get a little thinset on the tile. good luck

- With your tiles if you want to paint them darker then yes you can buy specific tile paint, which involves using a primer first then the paint, but to go lighter i think u may struggle as covering any dark colour and going lighter is tough. As for your cabinets, depends what they are made of, if the r solid wood a light sanding and primer should suffice, if they have laminate fronts(shiny) i wouldn't bother trying to paint them, just buy new fronts, its often as cheap as buying all the paints and primers etc!

- I would try 'tile and grout sealer. These products are easy to apply and once dried are very hard. Go to your home supply store and look at a few different types and see what would work best for you application. - Q:In my Bathroom, I want to update the tile. It‘s the small rough octagon shape in white w/black speckles. Grout is also white. I hate it, stays dirty. Thought about sanding it and putting a dye and sealer on it, but I dont know if this can be done. 2nd choice is replacing the grout w/black but I am back with the white tile, does anyone know if the sanding and dyeing it would work? I thought I would try this first, it would be cheap, because I have a sander and I can do it myself.. and thought I could maybe use the dye you use to dye clothes (possible?) and then just a polyurthane to seal. If I do anything else like, remove ceramic tile, this may be costly..Any suggestions?
- If you are dealing with ceramic tile and you sand it, you will see the red clay backing come through. Don't do this. You will wind up replacing the tile anyway. If it is just the grout color you want to change, there is a grout colorant that you can purchase to dye the grout to what ever color you want. If the tile is also dirty, you will probably want to replace the tile as well. You can pull up the old tile, or you could put down a new subfloor and tile over that. Check with your local stores, Lowe's, Home depot, etc. You should be able to find tile at a good price and knowledgable people to help you with the project.
