A generator is usually powered by a diesel or gas (petrol) engine which powers an alternator to produce mains power for hours provided it is topped up with fuel. A UPS uses a large battery and a high powered inverter circuit to produce mains power but is not expected to power equipment for very long, just long enough to shut them down safely without loss of data.

Hi It is the same as a gas engine to maintain. Except for the fuel has to be water free. There will be a bowl some where to empty the water. Changing the oil etc. depends on how much you use it.

Gasoline or diesel. You can buy small generators for this. Average home would use a 2 kW typically, a 5kW if there is lots of AC and other large loads. But a hospital requires a much larger generator, and also a lot more reliablility, as well as automatic switchover. .

It doesn't matter that the generator is connected to a geothermal steam turbine, a water wheel, a jet engine, a diesel engine, or a hamster wheel. A generator does not actually ‘create’ electrical energy. Instead, it uses the mechanical energy from the spinning turbine to force the movement of electric charges present in the wire of its windings through an external electric circuit. This flow of electric charges constitutes the output electric current supplied by the generator. This mechanism can be compared to a water pump, which causes the flow of water but does not actually ‘create’ the water flowing through it. Vegatable oil can be used to operate a diesal engine like the one in Willie's bus. But a jet engine like those in aricraft requires a fuel with a much higher octane rating and vegatable oil won't do.

Q:I am leaving a career as an aviation electrician after 23 years and have applied for a job as a diesel locomotive electrician with Union Pacific. I was notified about a skills test and was hoping to brush up a bit before the test. Which areas should I focus on studying? Also what can I expect on a day to day basis working in this field? And lastly, although I can troubleshoot and wire a jumbo liner in my sleep I don't have specific experience with large generators and motors. How will this affect me in the hiring process. Q:Hello, I am putting an HHO generator, which is metal plates in water in pvc pipe, into my small pickup truck. I am having a bit of trouble finding an EFIE unit though, which is the boy that goes in line in front of the 02 sensor, to give it a bit more juice and stop it from dumping more gas in when it thinks there is not enough air (but way too much HHO) in the system.Are there any automotive forums that you all would direct me to? And if not, are there any manufacturers of finished EFIE units, or even kits to build them, on the internet or elsewhere for me to utilize?I want to get this done before I leave for college. Gas prices suck!

first off, there is no such chemical called HHO, if you paid for plans to get HHO, you bought a scam. You might be able to get your money back if you report it to the FTC. These scammers put you on a wild goose chase looking for all kinds of things that will make their scam perform. They hope you will get tired of trying. An EFIE is a system that attemps to bypass a pollution control system. If you bypass it, you could recieve a $25,000 fine a jail time, so go ahead. I'm forwarding your questions about bypassing the device to the EPA, they may contact you in the future.
