Q:I need to be doing a change soon and i was wondering is changing a tubeless tire as simple and changing a tubed tire. Ive done em on my dirt bike and its a piece of cake. Well i found a video on youtube of a tubeless tire change and he done the same as you would a tubed tire. So yea i was wondering is that simple to change a tubeless tire on a motorcycle?
In general, tubeless tires are more difficult to change than tubed tires. The tire fits the rim mode closely; it has to in order to retain air. Then there is the bead retention shoulder on a tubeless rim, designed to keep the bead on the rim if the tire deflates at speed. The result is that the bead is a lot more difficult to break down. With a tubed tire, you can almost always break the bead using just tire levers. You may find you need a tire changing fixture to break a tubeless bead. Mounting atubeless tire is also more difficult. You may need a large volume of compressed air to get the bead to seat, where you can use a hand pump with a tubed tire.
Q:Where would I find white wall tires for a Goldwing motorcycle?
Try Coker Tires. They carry all kinds of vintage tires.
Q:Let‘s say you buy a Ducati. How long will it take before you want to buy a new motorcycle?
Owned nearly 30 bikes in my 49+ years of riding, sorta wish I still had them all, but garage-space is garage-space and I've down-sized in the last few years. Never owned a bike I hated (though there were a few times that they did malfucation at an inappretune time) so I ride what I'm riding and doing the best I can with what I got. Have owned a Ducuti (Monster 629), fun enough bike but maintenance was a too much for my taste, so bye-bye it went. Haven't tired with my present stable mate (Triumph Tiger 955i) in the 11 years I owned it, has had its issues but it does what I need it to do and it may be the last bike I buy.
Q:Im looking at buying those colored decals that u put outside of your rim that just boarder it. i can‘t think of what they are called but im sure someone knows what im talking about. im just looking for a good and secure website to order them off of, thanks
It's called rim tape. You can get it on OKorder for a good price and as long as you make sure the seller has good feedback you should have a good secure buy.
Q:Are Vespa motor scooters more safe than motorcycles?
No, all scooters in general are less safe then motorcycles. The smaller tires are more prone road hazards and offer less traction. The steering geometry has less rake and are less stable because of that. The front and rear suspensions have less travel then a motorcycle and the rear suspension has more unsprung weight then a motorcycle and both of these things lead to poorer handling. Scooters are nimble and a lot of fun but no way are they safer then motorcycles.
Q:What items and service should I have performed/changed/checked immediately? (oil change, spark plug, air cleaner, tires, chain, what else?)How often should I have them serviced/checked/changed in the future?
Oil and filter change now. Then you will have the record of exactly when it was done, and do it every 2500-3000 miles henceforth. Check the spark plugs, if the color looks good, (no lean/rich condition) then leave them alone for right now. Chain-clean and lube as necc right now then lube every 500 miles. Adjust it as necc. Air filter-basically if you remove it and hold it up to a light source to check it. If you can't se the light replace it. If it is a foam type, clean and re oil it. Check the tires for signs of dry rot and how much tread is left on them. Replace as necc. Check the air pressure in each one- the bike should have a small sticker on it usually on the swing arm to give you the tire pressure for both front and rear. If not, then get a service manual for the bike-which is not a bad idea anyway. Most items you can do yourself and this way you have all the specs. Depending on make and year of bike, you could start running tests on charging system components, but unless it is giving you problems, why? Ask when the battery was last replaced. Walmart has good prices on motorcycle batteries (and oil filters for m.c.). Get a trickle type charger for the bike. That way you only need plug it in when the bike is going to be sitting for a few days and the battery life will be doubled, if you get a charger like the battery tender or one that will never overcharge the battery. don't believe me? most people can get 5-8 years out of a bike battery-some longer, when they use religiously a battery tender type of battery feeder.
Q:Harley Davidson is a motorcycle and everything else is a bike
basically a motorcycle is a bike that goes between your legs when riding (you straddle it like a horse, it may actually have some real power!) A scooter is generally something you'd sit on like a chair, (e.g: Vespa/Peugeot 50cc or 125cc etc.) and a moped is basically a bicycle with a very small engine attached to it. If you're going to be riding on the road in traffic, get a motorcycle that way you'll learn the skills needed to survive have the proper machinery to get you out of bad situations that other road users (i.e cars other 4-wheel wankers) put you in i guarantee that it'll happen sooner or later speak to a motorcycle shop to find out what really suits your needs. hope this helps.
Q:since harley tires r more pricey, i buy online at discount, and need to find an installer.?
As previously mentioned, after paying shipping and higher mounting fees you won't save much money. Find a reputable independent shop near you and cultivate a relationship with them. It will pay big dividends and knowing a good mechanic is worth more than saving a few dollars.
Q:I recently got a motorcycle it‘s a kawasaki ninja 250 a small bike and I‘m a big guy both height and weight wise I know the bike is way to small for me and once I finish learning to ride the bike I plan on getting something like a yamaha r1 or something similiar to that. Now my problem is that when ever I‘m riding I feel like the rear tire is trying to come out from under me wether I‘m going straight or around a corner although it‘s worst going around a corner does any one know why this might happen? is it because the bike is to small for me and getting an R1 will help or is this common? Any on have any suggestion?
I'm well over 200 lbs, and I've ridden on a bike with half the engine size of your Ninja. And even that tiny CB125 didn't do what you are describing. It definitely sounds like something is wrong back there. I'd first check the condition of the tire and next the condition of the suspension and rear axle. Get this fixed promptly. Learning how to ride a bike is enough trouble without mechanical problems that make the bike unstable. And with an R1, you're likely to have even more trouble keeping the back tire stuck to the pavement with the kind of horsepower that bike has. You may even find the Ninja to be more comfortable - supersport bikes are not exactly built with comfort in mind, while the littlest Ninja can accomodate a surprisingly wide range of riders.
Q:Are knobbies dangerous on the street if so give some advice how to be as possible
Not if you use DOT approved knobbies. Knobbies require slower speeds on the highway than road tires.
