Q:What makes a handlebar on a motorcycle feel heavy, and what makes other handlebars on motorcycles feel light. For example, I test drove two bikes over the weekend. Both were in the sport bike category. One was the Kawasake FZ6R. The steering was light and easy. Then I test drove a similar, but different, bike, the FZ6. The handlebar felt heavy. As yet another example , I took a Suzuki Marauder for a drive. The steering felt so heavy it felt like it was going to pull me down onto the pavement if I didn‘t manhandle it and kept it straight. So why the differences in steering? Is it the handlebar design? Especially curious about the two similar bikes FZ6R and FZ6. I hate the heavy steering feeling.
Q:I tried to get Big O to rotate tires/check balance. They said tires too old. . Is this law or just their policy?
It's not law, no, but it certainly recommended. All tire manufactures recommended tire replacement after 10 year, or less, regardless of remaining tread depth. Do you have to comply with their recommendation? Of course not, but for safety reasons you should.
Q:what is to consider before buying a motorcycle tire?
what your local shop stocks!
Q:Dirt Bike sizes. Front to Back?
Q:This is a motorcycle tire - actually for a 150 cc Kymco scooter.
80/80-16; The first number is the section width in millimeters. The second number is the aspect ratio. In your case the section width is 80 mm, roughly 2.5 inches. The aspect ratio number is telling you that the height of the tire is 80% of it's width. The last number is the tires diameter. 16 16 inches. So if you can't find an 80/80-16 to replace it with, something along the lines of a 2.50 2.75 X 16 will work.
Q:Is it safe to plug a rear tire from a motorcycle?
As a professional I have done it for myself, it all depends on where the hole is in the tire how, big the hole is and what kind of plug you use. It is not recommended to plug a motorcycle except in an emergency and you will not find someone to do it for you. As for it being safe, if done right it can last the life of the tire, on the other hand that plugged tire can kill you. So I would say if you have never done it before don't do it. Buy a new tire and be safe.
Q:whats a better motorcycle tire?
Q:What will happen if a motorcycle is on the freeway and its front tire blows out?
Q:I currently have Michelin Pilot Powers on my bike. I have a flat in the rear, but can‘t find the tire darn near anywhere!!!Is it okay to buy a different michelin that isn‘t a pilot power? Like say a Power pure? Do i need to have the exact same brands? Is it okay to put a totally different brand on the rear, like say a dunlop? If i can‘t find a matching set should i Buy a new matching set of a differing brand?HELP! and of course, thank you!
A common mix in Oz is a Power on the front and a Pilot Road 2 on the rear. Depending on how hard you ride, the only disadvantage to me is that the Pilot Road doesn't have a round enough profile i.e I get to the edge of the tyre quickly and then the contact patch starts to get smaller just when I need it the most. I run a Metzeler M3 on the front of my VTR with either a Pilot Road or an Avon AV56 on the rear. Grip is excellent and the tyres wear out at the same rate. This can be a pain though as you have to replace both at the same time (usually in the month when all the bills come in) Basically, a sticky front and a sports/tourer on the rear works very well.
Q:I have been riding for 2 years and can take on most black diamonds. I only ride a CRF150 and I plan on selling my trail bike, and purchasing a CBR250. How much are dirt bikes like full fledged motorcycles? And what are the main differences?
Dirt bikes are full fledged motorcycles. Just because full blown road race bikes are bigger, faster and handle great on the road compared to a dirt bike doesn't mean a dirt bike isn't a full fledged motorcycle. Take that road bike on a motocross track and see how well it fares. Or even take a Honda Gold Wing on a motocross track. Honda Gold Wing is a great bike for highway riding, not any good for dirt biking. Main differences from dirt bikes compared to road bikes: 1. tires. 2. suspension travel and dampening. 3. 2-stroke or 4-stroke. 4. seating position. 5. frame geometry 6. fuel tank size and construction 7. seat size. 8. ride height. Just to name a few Dirt bikes and road bikes are both full fledged motorcycles. They just each serve a different purpose.
