Personally every reel I own is a Daiwa. Have had very good luck with themgetting ready to replace one myself and sticking with what has been good to me. Rod wise, I personally have an assortment. I picked up an ultralight by Falcon that might be a good panfish combo for you. Mine has served me well. I have a few spinning rigs various manufacturers (bass pro shops, berkley, daiwa) My casting rods I have been happy with, a daiwa procaster TI and I just picked up a Berkley IM6 Lightning rod at a great price. I would personally stick with the Daiwa reels.and match it up to a rod that feels right (all these rods were purchased over 15 years ago)
