Q:Can you wire an extention cord to low voltage wireing? to like malabu lights: more detail please ? I don't know what malibu lights are, but low voltage lights can be fed from a mains adapter which is plugged into a mains extension socket. Its generally a bad idea to take mains leads outside though, unless it's just for a temporary piece of work in dry weather. If what you mean is: can mains cable be used for low voltage, then yes that's ok as long as it's just the cable it doesn't have a mains plug on it.

Q:I would like to know how to wire my West Marine VHF Radio.Coming out the back of the radio is a red wire, a white wire, and two black wires. The white wire and one of the black wires are a thinner gauge then the other black and red wires. Any solutions out there? Thanks: I would say the red wire is your power 12 V + side, The bigger black one would be you ground or - side , and the remaining two wires are for the speeker

Q:The wire is to the box: Hi There, Here is the proper way to wire a receptacle: Before starting the very first thing to do before wiring is to make sure the power is turned off at the breaker box. First: The bare (or green) ground wire goes to the green screw terminal on the receptacle. Second: The white (neutral) wire goes to the bright metal screw terminal on the receptacle . Third: The black (hot) wire goes to the brass screw terminal on the receptacle. Finally after the wires are connected and are tight; carefully position the receptacle back inside the box and tighten the two receptacle screws. Then replace the cover plate and turn the circuit breaker back on and plug a lamp or something in to test your work. Hope this helps, Al

Q:I am replacing old 3 button (vertically aligned) light switch. There is 1 thick wire wrapped in white, 1 thick wire wrapped in black and 4 thin wires wrapped in black. I attached the white wire to the common wire screw and put the remaining wires around the screws. I am also replacing a toggle switch that will control the vanity lights above the sink. There are 4 clumps of wire coming through the box. The copper grounds are all twisted together, and there are multiple strands of white covered wire twisted together and then the 5 black cover wires and 1 white covered wires. After hooking it all up, it doesn't do anything. No lights, fan or heat lamp. What did I do wrong?: Light Switch Common Wire

Q:does bigger power, ground, speaker wires give more power 2 the amplifier?: Yes for the power and ground wires. no for the speaker wires. bigger speaker wires gives the speakers better sound. and for thepower and ground wires it doesnt really give the amp more power, it gives the amp better current so a better sound since the wires have less resistance. it will help your amps give the full potential they can deliver.

Q:I have a very old house. I was unhooking the fluorescent light in our kitchen to put a round ceiling light in and the old fluorescent light was plugged into the ceiling (like any regular two pronged electrical plug). How do I wire the ground wire, the line voltage wire, and the neutral wire from the new light so I can plug it into the plug in my ceiling?: I would remove the outlet and wire the light with the wiring powering your outlet. Black to black, white to white and ground to ground. Just like you would have if the outlet weren't there.

My light switch has three spots, 2 brass screw plates and a ground screw, what of the 4th wire?: The bare wire is always the ground, for the rest: Not enough info. Look at the old switch. Is it the same as the new? You describe a single pole switch, and the wiring you describe might be for a 3 way switch. (If those 4 wires come into the box in one cable, it's almost a certainty.) Are there two switches controling the lighting in that area? Good rule: If you re-wire anything, always make a note of how things were connected before you remove anything. You've got yourself a puzzle now, that you'll need to solve by elimination with meter or test lamp.. EMail details and i'll try to help.

Q:So on my ceiling fan I have a white, black, green, and blue wire. In the ceiling I have a green, white, black, red, and bronze wire. What gets connected to what? Thanks for the help!: Redneck Texan is an idiot. Bronze does not go to blue. I think he is color blind and thinks the green in the picture is blue. Pat F85 is correct. The black on th fan is the blades and the blue on the fan is the lights. Black and red in ceiling can go to either blue or black on fan. Typically it would be black to black aNd red to blue.
