Q:hello,i have lots of 8 gauge wire resting at my closet. And i'm very interested on doing the big 3 upgrade to my 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt. May i see any improvement with 8 gauge wire?...i know that at least 4 gauge is recommended...but i dont want to spend money.: You probably won't see/hear a difference even if you use 1/0 wire, but there will be one. 8 awg big three will probably at least double the current carrying capacity of your stock wiring. To say it would be a waste of time would be ignorant IMO. It certainly won't hurt anything and will make a significant reduction in resistance compared to what's already there. I did my big 3 with 8 awg. I'm running 1500w rms with a stock 130A alternator.

Q:Both wires are green but unsure if it is the top or bottom wire.: both wires are green because it is a continuation of the same circuit. They are both the hot. power comet to the switch and when you depress the pedal the contact in the swich makes and the power continues to the brake lights in a sense hooking the two wires to each other. and making them one. But only one of them will show power (from the battery) until the pedal is depressed. Then both of them will have power as the brake lights come on (if everything is working properly)

Q:im installing a JVC raido in my 1990 nissan maxima and cant figure out how to properly conect the wires: The easiest way to install the head unit is to buy the harness adapter that's for your car and match the colors of the harness adapter to the head unit wiring harness. An antenna adapter will also be needed for the new head unit. A dash kit will obvious will be needed to make the installation seamless.

Q:need to know how to properly wire this amp in a truck: wow I have never heard of this amp until u mentioned it. the ratings seem good. ur best option would be to call sonic electronics have them send you a manual on how to wire this amp. they sell this amp. I mean u ask how to properly wire it. wire it to get power ? or to the woofers ? red wire + goes to your battery. black wire - goes to your ground (not your battery) to the frame of ur vehicle. then u need a blue wire, your remote this wire goes to ur stereo's remote wire it should be the same color or it will be marked. but if u do not know how to hook up an amplifier u should go to a professional shop due to the fact if u improperly hook ur amp up YOU CAN START A FIRE IN YOUR CAR.

Q:My boat came with a rule 500 2-wire auto pump. I have an on/off switch at the console. My replacement has 3 wires. How do I connect the 3 wires and still use my on/off switch?: It all depends on the function of the third wire. The instructions that came with the pump should tell you what it's for. If you're only using the pump with the switch you only need to apply 12V and a return to the pump. The switch could be in either leg, but will normally be in the +12V leg. The third wire could be an earth ground for safety or you might have a built in float switch so that you can apply 12V directly to that 3rd wire. When the internal float switch goes high enough it will turn on the bilge pump for you. Your best bet is still to read the instructions before you install it though...

Q:I no longer have enough 0 gauge wire would it be bad to use 0 gauge power wire to the amp and 4 gauge wire to ground the amp?: all okorder /... or going into your audio dealer store asking for 3 to 5 ft of the 0 gauge wire for around 15 to 20 dollars at the max. you can also asking your friends for if the person has some extra wire willing to sale it for cheap, I totally would do it, and I have done that before.

Q:plz answer correctly as soon as possible......why we use stranded 500kV wire?: There are many uses for stranded wire, from 5V to 500kV, and the reasons are very different. I am assuming since you say 500kV you mean high voltage transmission conductors? If that is the case the reason mainly is because of the physical strength of the conductor and manufacturing processes. For example a solid aluminum conductor with such large diameter is not realistic. When conductor spans large distances the weight of aluminum itself would tear it apart. Therefore a normal conductor would be something like 336 ACSR. ACSR meaning aluminum conductor steel reinforced. Steel is the inner wire for strength, and the outer wire is many aluminum wires wrapped together for carrying the electricity... Hopefully this was of some help.

Q:Hey there, so my cat chewed through some of my wires, what should I do to like fix them?: I am assuming the wires your talking about are the cords for appliances, lamps or what have you. And the type that you have to plug into your wall. You can as another post mentioned wrap the wire with black electrical tape if both side of the wire arn't touching. Or you can go to your local ACE hardware store and a floor associate would be more than happy to show you the items available for repairing or replacing the chewed wires. One of my cats started doing the same thing so I gathered the excess wire and tied it into a small bundle with a wire tie and the cat quit chewing them.
