Q:Explanation of Remote Wire? and REM wire?
The blue and white wire on the back of car stereos is not a remote wire, it is the antenna wire for power antennas. Which does not require 12 volts to power on the antenna motor. The remote wire is the same thing as the REM wire, REM is short for remote. This wire is used to send a 12 volt signal to external amplifiers to turn them on when the stereo is turned on.

best thing to do is to run down to a stereo shop or bestbuy/circuit city and get a radio wire harness. The wires on the harness should match the new stereo, and the harness just plugs into your factory harness. This way you don't have to cut the factory harness off to wire the new stereo. Harness should be less than $20.

Q:Net force on perpendicular wires?
I didn't read the question so I was carefully working out the force. The wire is perpendicular to the first wire, so using the right hand rule you discover that the field it creates is PARALLEL to the first wire at this left end. The magnetic force is caused by the component which is PERPENDICULAR to the wire which is in fact zero. So there is no magnetic force at this point. As you move along the wire you get a diminishing amount of magnetism caused by the wire which is going out of the page but that field has a component which is DOWN the page. Therefore that part of the wire experiences a force which is into the page. ( take your right hand, put the thumb along the wire pointing to the right, the fingers point down the page, the palm points into the page which is then the direction of the force) I would be surprised if you were required to work out the magnitude of the force in this context. You can't use F= ILB because both the magnitude and the direction of the field varies at different points along the wire. If the perpendicular wire had been directly below the middle of the other wire there would have been no net force. If you were of a level where working out the force was appropriate you would need to set up the formula for B at various points along the wire, taking the vertical component only and integrate this over the range from 0 to 5 cm. Not a trivial mathematical task.
Q:do i need a differnt wire?
You will best be served by wire that is properly shielded. There is specific wire designed to be installed in-wall, and that is what I would suggest for you to use for that application. . .
Q:I am installing a GFCI and the box has a red wire...what is it for?
It sounds like that receptacle was half switched. Receptacles are designed to have the small brass tab on the black side snap off and one half is constantly alive (black wire)and the other side is connected to a wall switch (red wire). Is this in a room with no ceiling light? Switched outlets are usually for a lamp to turn on as you enter the room. GFCI outlets are not designed to be switched on and off as both sides will go off. Is this room in a basement, kitchen, bathroom or near water pipes? You may not be required to have it GFCI protected. If you can and want a GFCI then try another outlet near by.
Q:can a 4 wire dryer work with a 3 wire plug?

Q:Does burnt wire still let electricity flow?
It depends. If the wires themselves got oxidized when you burned the insulation off, they will not conduct electricity as well as they did before. On the other hand, if you burned them in a way that converted the non-conducting plastics (organic polymers) into graphite (pure carbon) the wires might conduct a little better (because graphite conducts electricity). When you say there is insulation inside the wires, you may be confused. Some small electrical wires contain threads braided or twisted in with the fine copper wires to increase strength. These threads are usually non-conductors so, technically, I guess you could call them insulators but they are not in there to prevent one wire from making electrical contact with another wire. You can check if the wire still conducts elecricity with a battery and the bulb out of a flashlight. good luck

A wire harnes is a set of wires that has all the conductors needed and can just be installed into something. There's a wiring harness in your car. They don't install the wires one-by-one. A harness is built for the product and is installed like any other part. There can be many branches on a wiring harnes to go to different places in the product. There may be more than one harness. There could be one for power, one for communications, etc. This is more efficient than installing separate wires.
