in a typical house, several outlets are connected together serially. this means that if there is just one outlet that has a detached wire on the back of the outlet panel, it would cut power to the others in that chain. the way i figured it out was - turn off the main from the control panel then open up each outlet panel to make sure wires are connected to the screws. however if you don't feel comfortable with electrical, call the electrician. it costs about $40-$60 for a call like this.

The answer is yes. unless the device is shielded and grounded to remove the electrical field that is now around it, the delicate electronics in a chip will be burnt up just because of the presence of the field itself. items with much more tolerant wiring, such as bulbs and tubes, are a little better equipped to survive. The funny thing about a Humvee is that it has a diesel engine, which is not effected by an emp pulse. that's why the US military went to diesel powered vehicles in the 1980sbecause they don't get creamed from EMP.

Disabled access. Public liability Insurance. Possibly a toilet and wash basin which should also be adapted for the disabled. Tea/coffee facilities. Certificate to say that you are allowed to carry out a business on the premises. (?) Certificate from from an electrician to say that the electricity supply is safe. Fire escape. Fire extinguishers. Certificate from the Fire brigade. Thats a start for you.

Learn to put up and break down your equipment quickly. I've seen a drummer take 30 minutes to set up the most basic of drum sets when the set was brought in. Have backups for your guitars and electrical equipment. A broken string on a guitar is a 15 minute pause on your set (experienced that from the same band that took that long on the drum set) to fix it. Ignore the crowd if you think they are bored (in music videos those crowds are paid to be all festive, but they are no where near that in real life). If they aren't paying attention to you, you can forget the onstage talk and sing alongs. Ignore the drunks (talk with the manager before hand on having the manager remove the noisy drunks). Have your merchandise (same band above forgot their stuff and I wanted a CD)!
