Q:Brown stuff coming out of holes. How do I get it out and clean bottom of iron??
hahaha Oh Dear William! Unplug your iron. Make sure your iron setting is at ‘Stream’. Run clear water through your iron a number of times. The water should run out through the steam holes in the iron plate. Then mix a solution of 1 cup water with 1/3 cup white vinegar and pour into your iron and the solution will run through the steam holes on the iron plate. Plug in your iron and turn it on to ’steam’. Pour the water-white vinegar solution into the iron and press the ’Steam” button, letting the the water-white vinegar solution spew through, the iron. This will thoroughly clean out the inside of the iron and will not damage it. Once all the water-vinegar has all steamed out of the iron by you continuously pressing the “steam” button, this will cause all the water to run out of your iron and once it stops spewing, you can add regular water as usual and iron again. Using a cloth, use the water-vinegar solution to clean the outside of your iron. Once all is clean then add regular water to the iron. You can now iron with your clean iron. Good luck.
Q:Why didn‘t the big bang create mostly iron as it cooled and expanded? Iron is more stable (considerably) than hydrogen.
Iron is a lot more complicated - hydrogen, with just one electron and one proton, is as simple as it gets. Also, it takes a lot of pressure and heat to create iron - hydrogen is easier.
Q:I'm supposed to be taking iron tablets for an iron deficiency, but the only ones I have are expired. I'm away at college and wont be back home to get more for another 2 more weeks. I feel really weak right now, just really drained, and I just want to sleep all the time, which I have been doing a lot of. I was wondering what foods I could eat to help boost my iron intake, at least until I get back home. I've been trying to drink orange juice, I don't know if that helps though.Thankyou everyone.
Foods rich in iron: * Meat and fish: beef, lamb (especially kidneys and liver), veal, pork, poultry, mussels, oysters, sardines and tuna * Fruits: dried fruits such as prunes, figs, raisins, currants, peaches and prune and blackberry juice * Vegetables: greens (spinach, silverbeet, lettuce), beans and peas, pumpkin and sweet potatoes * Grains: oatmeal, iron-fortified breakfast cereals and wholegrain breads. The iron in meat, fish and chicken is called haem iron and is more abundant and more easily absorbed than the iron in vegetables, which is called non-haem iron. It is best to get iron from a variety of sources – protein in meat also helps your gut absorb non-haem iron. Iron contained in 100g of different foods - haem iron: lamb kidneys 12mg lean beef steak 4.3mg chicken breast 1.9mg - non-haem iron tofu 5.4mg baked beans 1.9mg spinach 1.3mg Your body absorbs only a small amount of iron at any one time, so it is important to eat a lot of iron-rich foods every day. To get the most out of those foods remember: * eating foods rich in vitamin C (citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables) will help iron absorption * drinking milk around meal times or when taking iron tablets can interfere with iron absorption * drinking tea with meals also hinders iron uptake.
Q:I curl my hair with a curling iron, but the curls do not last long. Someone told me to curl hair with flat iron for long lasting curls? anyone out there did that? how?
i've never heard of curling hair with flat iron for long lasting curls. i think you should curl your hair with the curling iron but then get spray stuff, or mousse for long lasting curls. or you should get a styling shampoo for curly hair people.
Q:Can you iron an iron-on patch onto Corduroy? I have a basic, solid maroon corduroy cloth purse, and wanted to add on a little patch for decoration. Should it work, and should i use a towl or straight iron it on?thanks.
If you are ironing a patch onto corduroy to repair it, I would turn the corduroy inside out and iron it on the smooth side. That will help repair the hole. If you are bent on ironing on a patch to the outside of corduroy, you are going to have a hard time, because the furry part of the corduroy is just going to come off, and the patch will peel off sooner or later, and it will never look exactly right. You could iron on a patch and then go around it with blanket stitch, if you want the look of a patch on top of the corduroy.
Q:what is zero-valent iron??
The term zero-valent seems to mean an iron atom with an oxidation number equal to zero. That would seem to be iron atom in its elemental state before losing any of its electrons. Of course elemental iron atom can react with any nonmetallic atom losing either two or three of its electrons and becoming an ion with a charge of either 2+ or 3+.
Q:what can I not eat taking iron pills and why is that so?
If you are asking about the risks for taking iron supplements, you should know that taking too much iron is not good and even dangerous esp. if you are male. And if you are just a kid, you may actually die from iron poisoning. This is why there is no iron in vitamins for kids. Anyway, it is important to know that iron cannot be flushed out of the body except through bloodletting (i.e., donating blood) and menstruation. This means that men, kids and menopausal women are at risk from iron overload.
Q:i‘m taking iron pills because i‘ve been exhausted so much lately.does it really help?
IF you have an iron deficiancy the supplements will help.but your best bets are to NOT take in large quantities of coffee and tea since that has an effect on how much you can absorb and try to eat foods high in iron since that will be absorbed and udes better by your body.soome great foods for iron content are clams, liver, oysters and wheat germ.you can also get good amounts from beef and eggs, dried apricots and peaches prunes and raisins, mixed nuts, wheat flour, many herps and spices and spinach
