Q:Yo, i am a proud owner of a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. I was wondering if it is possible to tint the plastic windows using a self tint kit found at an auto store. Ive been looking for the answer online and can only find tutorials on how to use the tint on regular glass car windows. Someone please help me out before i buy the tint and try it myself and end up ruining my windows. thanks
No, I was just at a glass tinting shop a few days ago and asked. It will not adhere to the plastic.
Q:Jeep Wrangler rear plastic windows?
I have **** windows in the house I rent, so we shrink wrap them, staple thick plastic sheeting to the windows, then staple a fleece blanket on top of that. Its about the only thing that helps keep our bills tolerable.
Q:is the space between the glass and the window seal important
I've lived in a few rentals where we had to weatherstrip the windows, and at no time did it ever occur to me that the landlord should pay for it. Weatherstripping is just part of living life in a colder climate. You don't need to pay outrageous amounts for expensive weatherstripping products. If the gap is an inch or two at the top of your window, just roll up some old towels or cleaning rags to fit into the gap. They'll stop the wind just as well as some plastic product you have to pay for at the hardware store, and your curtains or blinds will cover them anyway, so you don't have to care if it doesn't look too good. If the windows have an actual structural problem, though, so that they really can't be closed tightly enough to lock, you might try to convince the landlord to have repairs done based on the fact that they're a security hazard. (Yeah, I know, nobody's likely to break in to an attic, but you can at least try.)
Q:My windows seem to be extra drafty this year... It seems like one of them is open, but I can't find anything wrong with them. Anyhow, my heat is kicking on like every 15 minutes! I don't wanna get a $300 gas bill every month till winter is over... I'm thinking about putting plastic up on the windows --- How do I do this? What do I use?It seems so ghetto, but oh well.I live in an apartment building too btw..
I have the same problem, they make a product that is a shrink wrap for windows, you put it up and hit it with a hair dryer and it shrinks to fit with no tape or tape marks later. You can find this stuff and Lowes Home Depot or your local hardware store. We use it every year in hour house and rentals Also it is totally transparent, you won't even notice
Q:Should I insulate just my single pane windows or my new windows as well? Also should I put the plastic on the inside, outside or both? Thanks.
Plastic on the inside. Putting it outside will subject it to wind and weather. It will be noisier and will not last all winter. If your new windows are double or triple pane, I would not do them. Look for places where drafts come in around windows, doors, fireplaces. Many of these can be sealed with caulk and are very efficient.
Q:on a bmw ragtop
You can purchase 'window tint' that comes in rolls and at several shades from your local auto parts store or detail shop.
Q:We live in an old, very poorly insulated house, and it's very drafty/cold during the winter. We've tried two-sided insulating tape that you put in the window sills, caulk strips that you put around the frame, etc. and none of it works. Is it worth the money to buy the plastic that you can put over the outside of your windows? The draft seems to be coming from where the window itself meets the sill, but also around the perimeter of the window (where the edging/molding is attached to the wall). I've read a few articles online about quot;how toquot; install plastic, but they all say that the plastic comes in kits and you need to attach it with the included double sided tape to your wooden window frame. our house is brick and there's not much of a frame outside. What little wood there is has been painted over many times, and I doubt tape would stick to it. Should I try to do it anyway? Is it worth the cost?
You can caulk around the windows first. That should have been done at instalation. If you need to, you can use 100% silicone to adhear the plastic to plastic and it is easily removed in the spring. Do a test section and let it cure for 48 hours and see how it holds and removes. I never did it but I do alot of caulking. If you dont seal the draft, no matter what you do, it will eventually blow off.
Q:The city requires me to separate paper and plastic into two different bins. I have been tearing the plastic windows out of envelopes (you know the kind you get from businesses) before sticking them into the paper bin. Do I even have to do this? And if I do, can I put the plastic window part I rip out into the plastic recycling bin?
You don't have to do this, but it will be easier for the city recycling center to recycle it. Yes, you can put the plastic window part into the plastic recycling bin. :D
Q:out of envelopes before you put it in your paper recycles or do you leave it in? This bugs me EVERY week, lol. Who does this and who doesn't . Anyone know how they deal with the plastic. ?
It IS possible to remove those windows during the recycling process but the process is not foolproof. Staples and other metal are easier to remove from the recycling stream. Remove the windows, if you can, but don't worry about it. Most of the paper will become newsprint, cardboard, or insulation and a bit of contamination is unimportant.
Q:There have been news reports that broken glass is falling from condo apartments. They are coming from glass window installments. I want to know if condo buildings ever build their windows with plastic.
You sound like a good tenant. No Landlord will get mad and not renew a lease, with no trouble seeing that you ask for improvement. If he does, I assurance there used to be an extra motive and wouldn't have renewed it anyway another thing is, landlords are well conscious of the condition of the models. They be aware of when carpets are as a result of get replaced, home windows and different repairs and improvements are indispensable. Nevertheless, they most likely will preserve off as long as possible, except the tenet asks. As for the fee, it can be expensive, but it also provides to the worth of the unit, makes it easier to appoint/lease out. Who pays the heating bills? Whoever is paying is in general spending extra if it can be bloodless there, and warmth is escaping. That will have to be a important point to bring up also. But don't be shy. Again, it's most likely he is already conscious of the need to change them.
