Q:What are the tiles?
2, the wave of brick: wave with the polishing turn similar, but the production requirements higher, requires a better press, to suppress a higher density, while firing a higher temperature, can do all-ceramic. Wave is to strengthen the polishing of the polished, the surface is generally no longer need to polish the treatment is very bright, to a certain extent, to solve the problem of polishing easy to dirty. Of course, the price of the wave is more expensive than polishing. Summary: polished and polished tiles because the surface is bright, so beautiful, while high wear resistance, but there is a single color, easy to dirty, non-slip and easy to penetrate the color of liquid and other shortcomings, these two bricks are generally larger, the main For the living room, the door and other places, rarely used in the bathroom and kitchen and other places
Q:What is all porcelain called semi-tiles
The water is certainly not in the top of the tile there is a hot extension to the warmth, although the semi-porcelain heating rate is higher, but definitely not to say that in the warm with semi-porcelain will produce problems that can be ignored in other words As long as the quality of ceramic tiles for their own home enough to wear the same degree of wear is no difference,
Q:I want to lay tiles on my concrete driveway, is that possible. I don't want to hire the expert to demolish the concrete, pave it with gap sand and the usual stuffs. I know how to do indoor tiles layering, but wasn't sure regular tiles will hold up 3 tons of vehicle weighs. Anyone knows any other way. Thanks.
I assume your not talking about using indoor tiles in your driveway. But if you are, it be a big mess. Don't do it. There are all kinds of styles of outdoor tiles and/or stones that are made to stand up not only the weight of cars, but the elements as well. I understand not wanting to pay for labor, but at least invest in some professional advice. Ask at the place you get your tiles/stones and sand who to talk to. Maybe having a professional doing some of the harder task involved will save cost of repairs later. Sounds like a nice idea though. I love a bricked driveway myself.
Q:i mean i know they make tiles obviously, but how do they go about doing that exactly?
Hello Most of the tile makers now use dust clay(fine powder) .they have a standard 6x6 two part mould that they fill with a set amount of the powdered clay insert the filled mould in to a fly press of similar type of press remove from the mold decorate glaze and fire in the kiln. this is just to give you some idea. The traditional way is to use plastic clay that's wet clay that you can press into a tile mould by hand or a small press remove leave to dry and then fire when fully dry.You can fine a few help full books on the internet or the Library. Cheers Bob a Job
Q:Ok my room has asbestos on the vynil tile floor and it‘s in good condition. I‘m trying to put a carpet on top of the floor is it possible without removing the tile? Home Depot wants me to remove it before they install the carpet.
It is possible to install a rug over asbestos tile. Legally, if you wanted to remove the tile, you'd have to hire a licensed asbestos abatement contractor to do the work and dispose of the tiles. They can't just be thrown in any landfill. It could get costly depending on your budget. The advantage is that once you remove the asbestos, its good for good and its easier to sell the house later on in life. However, Home Depot and a few other contractors prefer to lay carpet down on bare floors. The concern is years later, they can't guarantee their work because the tiles under the rug could come loose, etc.
Q:The bathroom tile in my recently purchased house isn‘t finished. The previous owner used floor tile to surround the tub; he/she left many pieces of tile unfinished, but luckily left us a stack of the tiles so we could finish it off. However, we don‘t have an unlimited supply of these tiles, so we‘d like to get it right with as few tries as possible!I‘m wondering: -I need to fit the tub faucet and knobs within two 12 square tiles. What‘s the best way to measure the placement of the fixtures? Is it possible to make some sort of template that I could transfer to the tiles? -Can I make the cuts for the fixtures using a hacksaw-type tile saw blade, or should I buy a tile drill bit? (I realize it rather depends on where the fixtures fall within the tile-- but if I don‘t need to buy both, I won‘t waste my money. )Thanks!
If you are trying to use floor tile on the walls, I would go to a tile store and have them make the cuts you need (use a grease pencil to mark the tiles) the two methods described in the first two answers can help you. but if you have ever tried to cut floor tile with one of those hacksaw tile blades you would know that it is VERY DIFFICULT, wall tile cuts no problem but floor tile is much tougher. also if you know where they were purchased they may cut them for you for free.
Q:Wondered what people‘s experiences were of the above in kitchens. The kitchen leads out into the back garden so the floor will be walked on an awful lot. Would flooring last or look as good after a year or would tiles be the way to go. Any info would be great before I make a purchase. Thanks
Tiles. Definitely. I have tiles in the kitchen and solid woodblock flooring in the hallway. Both get dirt trampled on them. The tiles still look as good as new (good quality ceramic tiles), and need the occasional hoover and mop. However, the dirt has worn the polish off the wood in the front hall so it's going to need a professional sand and re-varnish at some point, which is expensive and inconvenient (and dusty!). If you do decide to go with wood, get SOLID wood flooring and NOT laminate, as laminate curls up if it gets wet and I doubt this would be covered on insurance if in a kitchen ...! Hope this helps. If you're worried about the floor being cold in the mornings, you can get electric underfloor heating installed under the tiles before you put them down. It's not too expensive and you can put it on a timer. (things like the website below)
Q:How many types of tiles are there?
3) polished tiles: whole body polished polished, thin and hard. After the classification of tiles, you can choose according to the use of the environment. Polished tiles are a kind of quintana bricks, hard and wearable, suitable for use in most indoor spaces other than toilets, kitchens and indoor environments. The drawback of polished tiles is easy. Common specifications: 400x400mm, 500x500mm, 600x600mm, 800x800mm, 900x900mm, 1000x1000mm. 4) tiles: in order to solve the polished tiles appear easy dirty problems, the market appeared tiles. In fact, the tiles are all tiles, the surface is smooth but does not require polishing, so there is no problem of polished porosity. Tile is a reinforced polished tiles, which are made of high temperature firing. Texture is harder and more abrasive than polished tiles. There is no doubt that its price is also higher. Common specifications: 400x400mm, 500x500mm, 600x600mm, 800x800mm, 900x900mm, 1000x1000mm.
Q:To any DIY‘ers out there! My kitchen has a white tile backsplash and these decorative fruit motifs here and there. (you remember that trend?)There are only eight of them strategically placed, but I‘d really prefer that there were none, and just the plain white like the rest of the tiles. I can‘t really aford to retile the whole backsplash right now, so my question is .. Is there an effective way to cover them or paint them?
Absolutely! okorder / And here's a link for ceramic tile paint: If you find that painting is just too much work, you may want to consider going to Home Depot or Rona. They have these new funky stickers made to stick directly over ceramic tiles... and they last! Not as long as painting, but it will tide you over unitl you redo the backsplash in ceramic or whatever..... Have you considered the new metal tiles you can get now? If you want some info on metal tiles, just email me.
Q:I have kitchen tiles that have long term stains like broth and sauce stains. They won't come out with standard tile cleaner. Should I used bleach or will something else work better?
I would try bleach first. If the tiles are on a wall vs being flat on a counter try a spray gel cleaner with bleach in it so that it sticks to it and let it sit for a while.
