- Q:My roommate is allergic to cats, and when I got my kitty I told her that if her allergies got too bad, I'd send him to live with my dad, but I do NOT want to do that and am trying to find a good vacuum for someone with allergies. I'm looking for something with a HEPA filter. Can be bagless or have bags. I'd really prefer an upright to a canister. Looking in the price range of $60-$200, but willing to hear suggestions for more expensive models. MUST HELP REDUCE ALLERGENS!!
- Most bagless vacuum cleaners have HEPA filters. You should be able to just go to your local target/wallmart/sears and pick one out. Another thing you can do to help is buy an air purifier for your roommate's bedroom. Most styles are basically a fan that pulls air through a HEPA filter. It would do a lot of good because allergy symptoms are usually worst in the morning right after someone wakes up since the person has been laying down sleeping which makes them prone to congestion.
- Q:You can sell 800 vacuums for $100 each. For every one dollar you increase you can sell two fewer vacuums. For example, if you charge $103 you can sell 794= 800-2(3) vacuum cleaners. If you charge 98, you could sell 804= 800 + 2(2) vacuum cleaners. How much should you charge to maximize revenue?
- You are on the right track. We can find a linear equation to predict the number of vacuums that will be sold at any given price. At $100 it is 800. At $103, it is 794. Think of this data as two points on a line. The points are (100,800) and (103,794). Find the equation of the line. y=1000-2x. The Revenue generated is the number sold * the price. y is the number sold and x is the price. R=x*y=x*(1000-2x) R(x)=1000x-2x? R'(x)=1000-4x The critical number is when R'=0 == 1000-4x=0 == x=250 So, it looks like we should charge $250 per vacuum. Is this really a maximum? R''(x)=-4. The Second Derivative Test tells us that our value is a maximum. This makes sense. The revenue function is a parabola that opens downward with a vertex at (250,125000), The price is $250 and the revenue is $125000.
- Q:I have a two piece standard Kenmore vacuum (not an upright vacuum but one of those that the hose attaches to the body). Anyways, I was vacuuming and then all of a sudden the roller quit spinning. I thought maybe some string or some other obstruction was preventing the roller from spinning or perhaps the belt broke. But I took everything apart and found out the motor doesn't spin. I can't even spin it manually. If I remember right shouldn't the motor be able to spin freely? My motor is stuck and won't spin and I can't find any obstruction preventing it from spinning.Any thoughts? And secondly, can you clarify if the motor should spin freely when the vacuum is turned off because I could have sworn that in the past if anything got wrapped around the roller (like string) I could easily unwind it.
- That motor burned. Need a new one. Good luck...!
- Q:My partner and I recieved two vacuum cleaners for Christmas and want to return one to the store. Which one should we keep and which should we return?Brand: VoltaName: GeminiModel: U4504Max: 1600 WattVoltage: 230-240V 50HzWeight: 7.5kgUses: BagsBrand: KambrookName: Jaguar KompactModel: KVC30Max: 1600 WattVoltage: 230-240V 50HzWeight: UnsureUses: BagsBest answer will be chosen ASAP =)
- I would return BOTH and get a Dyson !
- Q:I can't use brush roll vacuums due to long hair on the carpet which has destroyed other vacuums with brush-rolls. I know Miele Art is one -does anyone know any others? TY.
- Every canister vacuum I know of has a way to put a plain floor brush on the end of the wand instead of a beater brush. Shop-vacs also just have plain brushes.
- Q:Opinions please on Bosch vacuums Iknow that they have really good appliances but I'm not sure about the vac. Any help would be great.
- I recommend that you check the March 2006 issue of Consumer Reports. On page 30 is a full report with ratings on vacuum cleaners. They tested both uprights and canisters, and the Bosch Premium Prestige($800) came out number 2 in the canisters. The Sears Kenmore Progressive($500) came out number one, and had more features for less money. If you want to save even more money, check out the Sears Progressive with Direct Drive. It came it number one in the upright vacuums, and will save you even more money at $300. Good luck!
- Q:Are these vacuums really as great as people say they are? Are they really the best vacuums? I've always wondered about them, I may do the 30 day trial some day, but I'd like to find out more about them first.
- I clean houses for a living. BIG houses. They are great. Even the little vacuum they give you for free is great. Try it you'll like it.
- Q:I have a Dyson Animal - what brand of Vacuum Cleaner do you use - Hoover, Dyson , Vax ..etc...
- I want a Dyson, are they the best?
- Q:That they all clean their houses with brand name Dyson Vacuum Cleaners? Is it product placement? I love Dyson!
- yes it is. Every thing you see on a TV show that is clearly marked with a product name is a placement.Plus since Bill owns a chain of hardware stores it makes sense his wives would use the best vacuum cleaners on the market.
- Q:Can anyone/everyone help me in knowing what to buy as far as vacuum cleaners go?? I am in desperate need to replace the piece of crap that I currently have and are having a heck of a time doing it, for there are oh I don't know millions of them!!! I have a cat, 2 adults 3 kids so I definitely live in a High Traffic Household. Also I need one that comes with a hose (not just the floor sucking kind) and lots of attachments cause I like to go against the wall where the kids get dirt in the corners and the cat gets cat litter. I need as much feedback as I can get as to what I can buy. I would LOVE a Dyson, but I don't have a $1000.00 to spend and more like $200.00 (or less). PLEASE HELP!!!
- I've had a kirby G4 (generation 4) and it's been great. The only downside is you can only buy the bags from a dealer (or rep like at a sewing center or repair shop) or online and they tend to be expensive. It comes with alot of attachments, but to use the hose requires getting down, removing the front metal part and attaching the hose. They usually come with a dvd (or you can probably watch it on their website) that goes over how to take that on and off, and do other things with it like using it for a blower (like to clean your deck of leaves), rug shampoer and upholstery cleaner, and how to remove the bag. They tend to be heavy but last forever. Any of the generation (G) models would probably be fine.
