FAQ

Is it best to go for a more powerful vacuum cleaner?

The power of a vacuum cleaner’s motor is measured in Watts. The higher the Wattage the better it will clean, as long as the machine is well designed with good air flow and suction power too. However, the higher the wattage, the noisier the machine will be. With upright vacuum cleaners. you don’t need to have so much wattage or suction power as you do with a cylinder cleaner as the dirt has less distance to travel before it reaches the bag or dust container. The type of brushes are more of an important consideration with uprights than the power. You don’t always want to have a vacuum cleaner operating at full power for example, when cleaning upholstery or curtains, so it’s useful to be able to adjust the power level yourself.

Which attachments should I look out for?

Most vacuum cleaners come with three attachments, a crevice tool, upholstery and dusting brushes and a small head which is best for vacuuming stairs. You can also get additional turbo brushes which have their own motor for extra suction which are useful for cleaning deep-pile carpets or a power cleaning head which has electrically powered rotating brushes. A hard-floor or parquet brush is useful for wooden or tiled floors. Some cleaners have extendable tubes which are useful for hard to reach areas like cobwebs in the corners of ceilings.

I have a large house? What should I look out for?

Look for a cleaner with a large cleaning head – this will help cut down the amount of time it takes to vacuum a room. Also get as long a lead as you can get to cut down on the number of times you have to unplug the lead and plug it in again. You may also want to consider getting a model with a large capacity dust collector or bag so that you don’t have to empty it as frequently. If you have a lot of stairs, you may want to get a cylinder model with a long stretchy stair-cleaning hose.

Q:I am in China and don't have any carpet in my apartment (thank goodness!). I was thinking of getting a vacumn cleaner as it is aways so dusty but will this do more harm than good to my health in my apartment. Is it better just to sweep regularly and mop up the dust? Thanks !
As okorder /
Q:i need something cheap too
With allergies, buy any one in your price range as long as it has a hepa filter. They filter finer particles than a regular filtered vac. For a reasonably priced name for a starter vac, check the Dirt Devil brands
Q:when you turn it on the brush should spin when you vacuum but it doesnt and when i pick the vacuum up it starts spinning..?
It very well may be the belt. If it has stretched, or was replaced with the wrong size, there isn't enough tension to keep the brush spinning under pressure.
Q:i know what they are and what they look like, but how do you give someone one?and how long do they last?and why do people like them'?
you have to punch them in the throat. hard. dont hold back. they last a long time, but even longer if you wear a ring.
Q:Why are vacuum cleaners quiet in the TV adverts?
They fool us!!!
Q:This is the add quot;START NOW Hamilton based company has openings in all departments: v Sales v Service v Office v Warehouse $2,750 monthly/$18.42hr to start All training provided for selected applicants. Call for Interview Mon. Tue. Only 905-560-4888 quot;I went for an interview today and got the job. The company is called world wide industries and says they are rated quot;number onein Canada. After searching on google for the company I cant find any information about them. They didnt tell me what I would be selling but when you call the number it says vacuum cleaners. They said they set all of the appointments up for me and the equipment I just go and sell the product. My first day is wednesday and I have to wear a dress shirt and tie etc. I was wondering if anyone has heard about this? Is this a scam? Is this a waste of my time?
Sounds okorder . At any rate, best of luck!
Q:I've never had one so any opinion would really help.THANKS...
Pros are what people like about a particular product. Cons are what they do NOT like. I have a Roomba Discovery 4220 (black) I like it very much. I have hardwood floors, as well as carpet. It does very well on both. It runs about 2 hours on a charge the AUTOMATICALLY returns itself to the charger to recharge. You can't get any more convenient than that. Just make sure everything (Clothes, Wires, etc) are off the floor, empty the cannister before each use, and let it go!

This isn't a History question. It's a homework question. All you have to do is look up each on Wikipedia and check the dates ... its just time consuming. I'll help you out with the first one because it's a little convoluted. Washing Machines invented in 1691. Available in Europe by the 1750's. Available in the US by 1843. NON-ELECTRIC washing machines were fairly common 1870's to 1900 Electric washing machines were available 1904. US electric washing machine became common in households by 1928.
Q:I HATE dysons and I don't mind buying bags my options r Oreck Pilot, Eureka airspeed Bagged, Hoover Windtunnel Bagged and Shark Navigato lift away pro I have 3 dogs English Bulldog which shed all year round, Boston Terrier, Chihuahua and don't recommend any other vacuum cleaners I just need to know which one is the best
Can't go wrong with Kirby.
Q:This includes toasters, cyborgs, vacuum cleaners and magnets.
Probably because of our sweet hair-cuts...
