Q:Vacuum cleaners scare the crap out of me! I have to hold my breath before I turn one on. And my brother turned one on and came at me with it and I screamed... It's hilarious but I can't help it. If this is a real phobia could someone tell me the name of it? Hahahaha, thanks. =]
Of course. maybe you developed that fear when you were young. Fear is developed out of associations. For example in your case, the vacuum cleaner at first was just a neutral stimulus to you but maybe there was a aversive stimulus that you have associated with the vacuum cleaner. After several subsequent pairing of the Vacuum cleaner and that aversive stimulus, your fear of the aversive stimulus has been passed on to the cleaner. now even without the presence of the aversive stimulus, because of conditioning, you developed that fear.
Q:The vacuum has a really loud noise to it. At one point I seen grease/oil on the floor while it was running. The noise sounds like it needs grease or something. I'm thinking the bearings, but that's just a guess. Please can someone help or advise of a website where I can find the quot;how to fixquot;. Dyson support was useless. They just said to send the vacuum in or bring to a repair center at my cost. My options aren't big, I live in a very small town that doesn't have many or if any repair centers. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.
that's a tough one buddy-- I can't even grease my wife to make her work well-- otherwise whe might work like a hoover
Q:crazy. Although I empty my bags or canister frequently, my vacuums only seem to last a few months. I just got a Dirt Devil about 2 months ago and its suction is just horrible now. Can anyone recommend a vacuum for under $500 that will last? Thank you.
Dirt Devil vacuums just seem to be low quality. I have never liked those. Kenmore makes a great vacuum. The ones that I have had are very high quality, last a long time, and the price is very reasonable.
Q:When I bought a new house recently, the carpet looked awesome. There was a very neat pattern vacuum pattern. I can't do it that way though no matter how much I try. Any professional cleaners out there that can offer some advice??
Why would you do that? It will go away as soon as you walk on it. Or will you just sit there and admire it for days on end? LOL
Q:I am trying to find an inexpensive vacuum for my apartment. One day I will buy a fancy expensive one but I need one now and that is not what I can afford. I have been looking at what vacuums people recommend and it sounds like the bagged vacuums work better. However, most of the ones in the stores are bagless so I had assumed that was better. Is that only true with high end machines? Or is everyone carrying bagless just because they look cooler on the shelves?
After making the mistake of buying 2 bagless vacs in the last 10 years, I have decided that my next vacuum will definitely be bagged. The first bagless lasted less than 4 years and I can't find filters anywhere except on-line for the 2nd vac and it would almost be cheaper to just buy a new vacuum than replace the filters.....I will be buying a new bagged vacuum soon.
Q:I have acctually been asking this question for a number of years and have to admit that I am more interested in peoples reaction to the question than in a prosaic answer. However I wouldn't be oppossed to a definative answer from someone who builds the things. Just because I find it a silly place for a headlight doesn't mean theres not a valid reason for it being there.
Here's the honest answer, disregard all of the nonsense answers people have been giving you, there just here for the points. The true answer is that vacuums have lights to give the dirt and dust a fighting chance to get away. When they see the light coming they run n hide under the couch. Now if you don't believe me, just lift your couch n see if the dirt n dust isn't hiding there. One last fact people probally didn't know is that dirt n dust can't hear, no matter how loud the vac is. Thank god for those lights eh?
Q:Do you like the way it cleans? Will they work well on tiled floors?
I have a lot of wood floors and I like it. Gets into spots I forget about like under the furniture . But I do use my Dyson several times a week because I have two dogs.
Q:Where is the cheapest place to find a Dyson vacuum cleaner? I missed out on a sale at HomeDepot and am kicking myself for it! Anyone know someplace good?? They usually retail for $399. Thanks!
I've owned a Dyson. I am going to be completely honest with you about the Dyson. You know how they advertise that they won't lose suction....well that is true....but the Dyson doesn't have that great of suction in the first place. There are better vacuums for a better price. Good Luck.
Q:Hi all,Bought a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner yesterday as they claimed it picked up 99.5% of the dirt compared to what's on today's market, which picks up 5%. But for those of them who have them at home, did you find them better than what you had previously?
Our Kirby has been great. We have pets in the house and its handled that really well. You do need to have it serviced every few years to keep it clean and performing at 100%
Q:i need a good vacuum that won't break. my family and i had one that lasted for about 5-6 years then we kept buying vacuums for under $100 after that one broke then those broke within a month or two .. i need one that will last and won't be a waste of my money. one that is under $200 ... please help me...?? :-(
Depending where you live you can check discount stores that may have some good ones for less money. that's how I found mine- for $50. a couple of years ago. It's a Hoover and has a removeable cannister so you don't have to deal with messy paper filter bags. I can't recommend one brand over the other since I don't have that much experience. Just be sure you do the necessary maintenance once you buy one so that it doesn't become clogged with dirt and other debree. None of them will last forever but if you get 5-6 years that's not bad
