Q:want to add solar panels to manufactured home, and we get a lot of snow up here in the NW. Wondering if it would interfer with the roof load.
The okorder if you would like some ideas on how to do this.
Q:I have a panel that quot;deep breatheproduces at 4% efficiency, what can it power, It's about 4ft by 2ft
I also doubt your claim of 4% efficiency. That strength solar panel is brand new technology (this year) and is not available in retail sizes yet. You probably got duped by some false marketing... In any case; even assuming you had a 4% solar panel, there are too many things for us to give you an accurate assessment of the power production. Clouds, location on earth, season, angle of the solar panel; these are all things we need to know to calculate it. Odds are it should have the average rate it produces electricity written on the back panel or with the instructions that came with it. I know of no solar panel retailers that do not also offer free installation. You should get your money back or get that free installation (and then you never have to worry about how much power it has, it just gets you what it can).
Q:I don't see much solar panels on people's houses where I live. I got a long time to go before doing so but I was planning on buying a few solar panels when I retire in the far future. In your opinion, is such an investment worth it? Would you buy them? I realize they are very expensive hence why I said when I retire. Thanks for your opinion
Regarding okorder /.. . In Hawaii, solar is going in like crazy, with long backlogs for installation. If it will be a long time until you retire, then there is no rush. The price of technology tends to go down with time, and in fact, solar panels today are less than half the price of what they cost us in 2006. Also, who knows where you'll be living when you retire? If it's Honolulu, the place may already have solar panels. In the woods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it might never be worth it (but look into wind, there).
Q:Got a small project here in a remote location. There is to be a 2 volt deep cycle battery, the equipment to be powered from battery and solar panel to charge battery. The 2 volt battery puts out 55 AH. the max constant power draw from the equipment to be powered is 7.9 watts. Will a 30 watt panel at 2 volts be enough to run this system during sunlight and charge the battery for the equipment to run overnight? And, at 55 AH, how long can I keep a constant draw of 7.9 watts without a recharge? Thanks to all the input!
Will a 30 watt panel at 2 volts be enough to run this system during sunlight and charge the battery for the equipment to run overnight? Maybe theoretically, but you're going to have very little margin for losses and clouds. I'll bet it has very little power when cloudy. 7.9/30 = 0.26. So at 00% efficiency, you'd need it to be charging more than 25% of each 24 hour period. In a summer with long days and a climate with few clouds, you might make it. But I think you're very close to the edge. And, at 55 AH, how long can I keep a constant draw of 7.9 watts without a recharge? For an ideal battery: time = Q V / P time = 55 A h * 2V / 7.9W time = 83 hours So you've got pretty good margin on your battery.
Q:I want to install solar panels in my roof and most installers don't recommend any particular brand. Do you have experience with any particular brand that has worked for you or anybody you know? Does the brand of the panel make a difference?
You don't say what you are doing. Are you trying to get electricity from them and need solar photovoltaic panels or are you trying to run a heating or hot water system and need solar thermal panels. It is unfortunate that both of these are known as solar panels as they are really two entirely different designs. Currently the solar thermal panels are more efficient and therefore have a quicker pay back period usually measured in lower single digit years while the photovoltaic panels have paybacks that are sometimes more than double that unless you figure in increased property values and state and federal subsidiaries and tax credits where available. Edit: Recent advances make any current investment in photovoltaic panels likely to be obsolete in 5 years. Still someone has to be on the cutting edge. Two currently available technologies are concentrating the sun's rays within the collector on a much small chip area.2 This improves the efficiency and lowers the cost as concentrators are cheaper than chips. The other option is newer chips that accept a wider spectrum of solar energy.3 This has the potential advantage of producing more energy on cloudy days. This may not be so important in your situation. Balanced against cutting edge technology will be the possibility of getting older panels at a less expensive cost. The bottem line will always be pay back period. More panels at a lower efficiency and cheaper price will be just as good as high efficiency at a higher price if the numbers work out. 4 Between two answers here you now have a criteria for selection and some recomendations. Good luck with your project.
Q:What, if any, improvement in efficiency per square foot or meter is realized by a solar panel in space vs. being mounted on the ground where the light is attenuated by the atmosphere? In passing, I found a site that gives an output of .89 watts / 4 in. sq for a particular home-mounted panel.
The mirrors might could desire to be on computerized monitoring gadgets so as that using fact the sunlight strikes it might keep the pondered sunlight on the panel with value of optical sensors and stepper automobiles and %s or laptop controllers then you definitely've the mirrors which destroy in hailstorms except you employ chrome metallic ones that in the process basic terms mirror 60% in assessment to 80% for glass To tutor what I say take a small hand mirror outdoors and prop it up so it reflects at one brick or spot on wall mark it or keep in mind it then wait or come lower back in 20 min see what proportion times it may be moved and how complicated the development of circulate
Q:Can solar panels be installed on a retirement home or assisted living facility?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a retirement home or assisted living facility. In fact, many retirement homes and assisted living facilities are recognizing the benefits of solar energy, such as reduced energy costs and environmental sustainability, and are choosing to install solar panels on their buildings.
Q:I'm thinking of doing solar panel but i don't know how much they are i need help! please!
no one has answered because you asked a question that cannot be answered. It is exactly the same question as how much is a car?. Do you want a passive solar heating panel, a solar electric panel, .5 Volts, ,000,000 BTUs, do you want just the panel or the panel installed and functioning, or what? the answer is between $5 and $5,000,000.
Q:Can solar panels be used for powering electric boats or marine vessels?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power electric boats or marine vessels. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can be used to charge the batteries of electric boats or directly power their electric motors. This environmentally-friendly and sustainable energy source offers a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based propulsion systems for marine transportation.
Q:Do I just run the wire from the panel into the charge controller and then to the battery AND can I simultaneously draw energy from the battery while it is being charged by the panel? Is it as simple as hooking it up like that?
You have to keep the polarity straight. Red is positive + Black is negative - I don't know how much amperage you are drawing, or how many amps the solar panel puts out. This charge controller is a device I am unfamiliar with- What does it say on it? how many volts? how many amps?
