Q:i just purchased a MSI 970A-G45 motherboard for my bulldozer 6 core. i read just review that i need to flash the bios to get it to work with the bulldozer. But i got mine from fry's that has a sticker on it say quot;Supports AM3+ CPU with New Bios (B2 Stepping read)quot; what is this mean?: Having re read your question I'm 100% certain you will not have to flash your bios as you said the box sticker states Supports AM3+ CPU with New Bios (B2 Stepping ready) which means it already has the latest bios for FX cpu support. B2 stepping refers to a part of the cpu architecture,long story short AMD had problems with earlier pre release versions of FX that used B0 and B1 stepping that returned poor performance,they then re engineered using B2 stepping for final release

Q:im looking at buying a new computer. i will be doing normal web browsing, work and a fair bit of gaming. i plan on having this computer future proof and i want to be able to play bf3 when it comes out.so i spitting up between 1100t BE (or bulldozer if its cheap) or I7 2600k. im edging towards amd because the price, i can also include a screen with the amd system for the price of the I7 box on its own without a screen. i was also wanting to know would the amd bottle neck a xfx 2gb 6950. also if anyone else has an amd what do you think of it. does your computer lag in games? does it take long to transfer files? does it lag multi tasking? i know the I7 is better but i need reality answers not benchmarks for a super dooper computer.: If you do intend on going AMD and you want to future proof a bit then get a motherboard that has a 900 series chipset,these motherboards support current AM3 cpu's and will also be compatible with upcoming AM3+ cpu's so future upgrade of cpu will be possible. Having and AMD or intel cpu makes no difference with file transfer that has more to do with the type of HDD you have and what interface it uses,so getting a motherboard that supports SATA 3 and a HDD with sata 3 would be more benificial,also transfering from computer to USB device would have better transfer capabilities if you get a motherboard with USB 3.The 900 series AMD motherboards currently on the market have both these features. Would only suggest a 1100T if you use programs that can take advantage of the extra cores otherwise if gaming is the most strenuous activity you will be doing with your computer then a Quad core Phenom II 970 will do and it will not bottleneck a HD 6950. There are motherboards on the market that use the 800 series chipset that claim to support the upcoming AM3+ cpu's but they will not fully support all the features of bulldozer like the 900 series as the 900 series was specifically designed to support bulldozer. Honestly if you put an Intel sticker on a computer powered by a 1100T or even a 970 you wouldnt even know the difference.performance wise yes a 2600k is better than any current AMD cpu but really where talking benchmarking before you notice,in a real world scenario you wouldnt notice the difference

Q:I'm looking for a good AMD processor to put in my new gaming rig. I've been looking at the Phenom II X6 1090t and 1100t, also the Phenom II X4 965 and the 970. I figured since I don't plan on doing much more than gaming, some web browsing and school work, that either 965 or the 970 would be a great option, because 1.) its cheap, and 2.) Bulldozer is coming out within the next year. Is it worth the extra cash for the 1090t or 1100t, even if I plan on upgrading within the next year or so?: Simple, go with the x4 965 because it will last you a long time since it's has a amazing benchmark score. Gaming today and the next 5-7 years will require a quad core so the x4 965 should be perfect for you.
