Q:Well I was cleaning my floor because we were about to install new tile flooring and when I went outside to get a load of tile my girlfriend flushed the bucket of water down the toliet without checking if a rag was in it and by the time I got back the toliet backed up and she shut both the toliet and bathroonm sink valves off, well the toliet I fixed and got the rag. But the sink, once I turned the valves on the water barely trickled out.....Whats the problem and how do I fix it??
sounds like the sink valve never was turned back on all the way,try to tighten the screw on the valve the turn it on,or it may be stripped take the knob off (should be Phillips head) and try a pair of pliers to turn it on (don't force it you will strip it) on rare occasion the shutoff valve is defective you will have to get a plumber to replace.whats weird is that you should have hot and cold water valves under the sink one should have worked properly and you should have some kind of pressure.like i said make sure they are both opened all the way..good luck Bill
Q:Our bathroom sink is leaking where the trap meets the pipe that goes into the wall. How can we tell what size the pipe is? What special tools (if any) are needed? Thank you.
Bathroom sink traps are either 1 1/4 or 1 1/2. Tools needed would be channellock type pliers if you cannot unscrew the slip joints by hand. Possible leaks could be: the slip joint washer might have failed. Replace it with a new one. Make sure that you install it with the tapered end going into the wall connection. If the trap was hit, it might have just pulled out of the wall joint enough to leak. The pipe may be split. Replace if that is the case.
Q:I've got a badly clogged bathroom sink. I took out the draiin cover and I can see where the water is just standing/ draining extremely slowly. I can't reach the clog, but I was able to get a wire coat hanger into it and pull out a small bit of hair (not sure how hair even got into the sink!) but it didn't do anything to speed the draning. There could be a small bit of gravel in the drain from a few months ago as well as some bits of paper (all on accident, I'd never put anything down there!). I already tried some baking soda and vinegar but it didnt help, the vinegar just made the water level raise. The water is maybe 6 or 7 inches from the drain (not in the sink, in the pipe). What should I do? Thanks for your help :)
Stop screwing around. Follow these steps: - Go to the ATM and withdraw $50 - Go to the hardware store and buy a drain snake (any decent hardware guy will point one out to you). You don't need top of the line, 25' long is plenty and it shouldn't cost too much. - While at the store pick up a decent pair of pliers. I like Channellock but any pliers about 10-12 should do the trick. - Get some rubber gloves. You'll want them. - A can of WD-40 - Go home and get under the sink. - There are a couple of nuts holding the pipes together. Loosen the ones that hold the U-shaped pipe on. NOTE: have a bowl or bucket underneath! NOTE: the large chrome nuts holding the big drain pipes! They'll be chrome or white plastic. - Run the snake up through the pipe toward the sink. turn and push. Pull it back and remove any gunk. - Run the snake through the pipe going into the wall or down through the floor. Turn and push. If it starts to get hard to turn, pull it back and remove any gunk. Go back in and repeat until you don't encounter any more difficulties. If it becomes hard to push, that may be a turn in the pipe - keep trying. - When you cannot advance any further or have inserted the entire length of the snake, but not brought back any new gunk, you're done. Job's finished. It cost you, at the outside, $50. You will NOT find a plumber that will do the job for less, and when it's over you own the tools, so the next time this happens the fix costs you nothing. Shoot WD-40 on the snake as you wind it up, and shoot more inside the can it winds up inside of. That'll keep it in good shape until next time. Good luck with it.
Q:It is a bathroom sink
You okorder and link to bath design then to sink project for instructions. Your local home center can help -they will answer all questions.
Q:how do you unstop a bathroom sink?
Just go to the store and get one of those sink decloggers.

It is necessary to check the opening of the table counter hinge. Open the angle of 180 degrees, you can more easily pick and place items;
Q:i can't seem to unplug my bathroom sink. I have used a worm and it goes in about 15 feet but i can.t seem to unplug the sink
so the sink is the only yhing pulgged up? 15 ft is more than enough to get past the normal suspect areas. might be time to call a plumber of go to your cleanout plug and try there
