- I have three.
- Q:if you brought a battery operated conventional vacuum cleaner into space, in theory would it work? would it be able to create the internal vacuum to make it work? ( I am thinking along the lines of positive and negative pressure)
- No. A vacuum cleaner works by driving all the air out of the interior cavity to create a negative pressure inside. The greater atmospheric pressure outside then forces air in to fill the interior, and this is a continuous cycle. In space there would be no air either inside or outside the vacuum cleaner, so the motor would have no effect whatsoever. Even if you had air inside it for the motor to expel, there is still zero pressure outside and hence nothing to take its place.

- i have a bag-less. i empty it off the deck, into the yard. the dust, etc. just falls into the grass , and disappears.

- A canister style vac is better as opposed to one of the upright vacs. Why? Because with a canister vac, the hose attachment has special attachments made espcially for hard floors. It is easy to manuever the long arm of the hose around too, where as an upright is large and bulky and won't go into tight corners. I have had a Sears cannister style vac for years with my hard floors and I love it. there is no susbstitute. There is a carpet attachment too, which makes it the most versatile vaccum out there.
