Q:I'm changing from a white sink to a SS kitchen sink. The faucet is shiny chrome. The sink has more of a dull brushed finish. Should I get a new faucet or do you think it will look fine? Any answers appreciated, especially if you have done this yourself! :)

It depends where it goes and what is its intended use. A standard stainless steel double sink for the kitchen. Why? You wash dishes on one side, rinse water on the other side and into dish-tray to dry. If there are too many pots and pans in the wash up, I drain the rinse water in the cleaner sink and leave the pots and pans in there to drip dry. After a couple hours everything can be put away as drying towel is not needed. So simple. Much more of a hassle with just a single sink. What are your knives, forks, spoons, and pots made out of? If you use them to cook food day after day, stainless-steel is the only way to go. And the sinks should be identical in size (for we are all not right handed - and if you wanted to sell the house later--the left handers will decide right there(because the plumbing would have to be changed for them to flip the sink around) Extra cost so they will try to have the price reduced by that much or so. No flexibility, no sale.

if its a new installation it should be easy. you need a basin wrench, two 3/8 inch x 20 inch flexible steel braided faucet supply's, the new faucet and a flashlight. put down some rags under the sink (gets a little wet) close the valves under the sink and turn on the faucet to assure they are off and holding. remove the supply lines from the faucet and the valves you closed under the the sink. now loosen the capture nuts on the shanks of the faucet where the supply's were removed. after the captures are loose and removed the faucet lifts up and away. if there is a sprayer to the right of the faucet just cut the hose and remove it. the new faucet will come with installation instructions and pictures...so i won't have to write a novel here. if you get a basic faucet it will be simple... when you get into the exotics it becomes a strain. stay with a delta or a moen faucet...stay away from price phister...remember when you are purchasing a faucet... if there is an existing sprayer to the right of the faucet you will need to buy one with a sprayer (w/spray) don't want a sprayer and one exists...you will need a cock hole cover for it. talk to a sales person at a plumbing supply house....stay away from home improvement centers...best advise i can give you and good luck to you. yes there is a price dif between the supply house and home improv center...but you tell the guy at the counter in the supply house about it and many times you get a break. PLUS they know their product. good luck
