Q:i currently have a system in my car and i have 0G power and grounds wire that i bought off OKorder (some cheap quality cable) i already replaced both ground cables under the hood( engine block to battery and body to battery). now i am going to replace all of it with high quality 0G wire and was wondering if anybody knows the best spots to mount the grounds. and should the wire from my alternator to my battery also be the same 0G wire. also i have a 10 fared Rockford Fosgate cap that has a built in block for power and ground. should i use that block or get a different one? the car i have is a 1997 Sunfire, 2dr.any advice would be appreciated
yes use the same type of wire! and i would mount one of the grounds to the strut where ur shocks r bolted on ! and the cap isn't really necessary it just puts more strain on ur alternator ! but that's up to u if u wanna use it but yea u can use the same block.
Q:And how difficult is this should I just do it myself. Haven't seen the car yet just bought it.I Have only worked on modern vehicles is this still a twelve volt system. Thanks.
SGT, which wiring harness? The one from the firewallout or the body harness? Most aftermkt harnesses are color coded, unplug and plug back in for the one from the firewall out. Now the body harness, oh well, same as new cars and that requires removing everything down the L/S of the car's outside parts just like a newer car. And , yes, they are a 12 volt system but are DC instead of AC on the alternator / generator unless they have been changed over. Just wait till ya have to tune it up, now that is the experience of a lifetime!! Carb adj, dwell, point and plug gap and timing. Old school, but any Old School around ya
Q:hello all i need a to know is there anyone who sells and stock radio wiring harness long story short.car was taken from my job i have no idea i was out to lunch with another co work when it happen but but police found it stripped so now i got everything replaced except for the stock radio wiring harness that plugs into back of the stock radio it was ripped out i could tell so is there anyway i can find one for a decent price and how do i wire it in and trace it to where it plugs into what ever it plugs into its non ls 3400 impala no on star or bose radio
the chevy dealer can hook you up with the harness that you need, but it would probably be cheaper to check with the auto stereo shops in your town. Kunkles may also have it
Q:I have a 93 land cruiser and something is wrong with the trailer wiring harness. Only the left side seems to work. When turning on the right turn signal, the left blinks, and the right side will not light up under braking either. The left signal works properly and it will light up under braking. This happens on several trailers ive towed, so its not the trailer wiring, its the harness on the vehicle. I ran a multi meter as well to confirm that its the vehicle wiring thats messed up. I don't believe its the plug its self. Any clues?
test with a test light from plug to where it hooks to harness . make sure ground is good
Q:I have a 1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria with the Premium sound package. I went to the local audio shop and they don't know what wiring harness I should use. It says for 1983-89 Crown Victoria or 1990-91 LTD Crown Victoria so it leaves mine out. Any advice?

Q:I accidentally cut the stock wire harness piece out thinking, that i would just strip the wires and twist them in witht the coenciding colors to my Aftermarket radio, then none of the wires matched. And now all i see is to use a wire harness but that option is out since i cut the wires free from the small harness plug thing that was origanally attactched. any help would greatly be appreciated.
you have to find a wiring diagram for your car and the wiring diagram for the radio you want to put in .
Q:All the installation pdf's I've looked at for trailer wiring harnesses for the '02 Sierra refer to a pre-wired plug that is behind the bumper on the driver's side. Well, that plug isn't on mine. Was this plug an option when new?
well i know you have looked but it could be taped up above the bumper on the frame harness and you have to have a pigtail to plug into it. just a suggestion. good luck
Q:I have a 98 Acura. I put in a Sony car stereo in 1999 or 2000 maybe. Have wiring harnesses stayed the same since then? Basically I just want to put in a newer stereo to get current features like AUX in (on front) or SD/USB slots. No amplifier involved Are most of the stereos today set up the same so I just need to pull the old one and swap the wiring harness? Or does it also vary by brand? Thanks
It does vary by brand, but most head unit manufacturers have changed their harness design (sometimes more than once) in the last 15 years. If you replace your head unit, plan to re-do the wiring.
Q:I have my grandfathers old international I am trying to restore but mice have eaten a great deal of the wiring under the good. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it.
go to your local parts store and order an engine harness for a 1977 International Scout give them serial number and engine size and what options are in it. If they cannot get one go to an Auto-Electric shop with the old one and have a new on made. Alternative is buy rolls of the proper gage and color and sit down and make yourself a new one it will take time and is well worth it, have done it a few times myself. And using masking tape mark where each connection was connected to, then using a wiring diagram for that vehicle do it as you go and before long you will have a new harness and be proud of it. remember to wrap the wires and when installing make sure they will not rub on moving parts or touch anything hot like exhaust manifolds etc. Take your time folllow the diagram carefully and you will be fine
