- The two are my favourite genres, but I would have to say that black metal is my favourite. - Basically a metal pad is better, but if your new to the game I reccomend using a soft pad. Soft pads are cheap (money wise) and are a good start for learning the game. A metal pad is for serious players that want good scores on hard fast paced songs. The difference is that a metal pad is more pricey, more responsive to fast arrows, better control, and more heavier (so it won't move around as much.) Yeah, a metal pad is better than a soft pad. (that's why they cost so much ;))

- Posted in the wrong place because of the word 'metal' in the question - needs to be put in music area. And my experience is that playing metal strings vs nylon is mostly a matter of a different sound, not a different technique, although some techniques sound better on the metal. Of course, if you mean like heavy metal music that is a whole nother (disgusting) bag.

- No, because there are no molecules in metals. In metals there is strong metallic bonding between each metal atom and its neighbours. Metallic bonding is neither ionic nor covalent. Each metal atom loses control of it own valence/outer shell electrons, they become delocalised, and move about between the atoms. This kind of bonding is the strong force which gives metals their hardness and high melting points and boiling points. Hardest and highest when each atom has several valence electrons ie the transition metals but quite soft and low when each atom has only one valence electron eg Group 1 metals. It is these mobile electrons which enable metals to conduct electricity when they are all made to move in te same direction!!
