rather a day of the triphids type thing reallyNo i'd get a generator and live in a doctors next to a large vegetable patch using my science skills I has skills ^-^ until i was about 78, and then probably die of exhaustionor the smell of all those dead bodiesbecause after all, theres still all the animals and plants to enjoy in the world.
Q:.that you may have been played like a fool by your church and the people who wrote your Bible?I understand that you really truly believe in ChristianityBut, if it is false, you will have not only wasted your time, efforts, and possibly money believing in it, but you have also been played like a fool by people who are exploiting you and people who have been dead for thousands of yearsSo, does that bother you at all? Why, or why not?I am an ex-Christian who feels like he has been played like a fool and it bothers me - a lotI really hate that I was perceived as a fool by others for so longIt really bothers me that I spent so much emotional energy agonizing over the beliefs and that I almost committed suicide over themThe fact that I am gay placed me in conflict with my religious beliefs and made me hate myselfChristianity has cost me dearly and I despise it, now - utterly despise it with every fiber of my being. Now, your turn.
From the Better Homes Cooking book, they recommend freezing meats for up to a yearAfter that the meat will begin to loose its freshness and should be re-bought.
Q:We have a door to our attic on the outside of our houseProblem is, we can access only that half of the atticWe want to add an attic entrance inside the house and at the other endA small person can sqeeze through to the other side to help determine layout up there.1What's the best way to go about determining the best location to place the hole?2What supplies do we need to create proper support?3Whose done this before and what was your experience? And we don't want it to be pull down stair, just a hole big enough for on person to fit through.
The best place is away from the outside walls so you'll have plenty of head room once you get up in the atticA closet or other inconspicuous place usually works bestFor basic access, a square or rectangular opening between two roof trusses is probably sufficient (assuming the trusses are 24 on center)Frame the other two sides with 2x6 or 2x8 nailed to the trusses and you have your basic openingPut some trim around the opening on the ceiling and cut paint a piece of plywood for the door (you can even use the sheetrock that you cut out as your door if you cut it carefully and don't bang it up)Extend the trim a 3/8 or so past the opening to serve as a lip for the doorDon't forget to attach some insulation to the top side of the door if you're in a cold climate.
Q:This is actually a two part question.I have a walkup attic that will eventually be finished when I get the timeCurrently inside the attic there is insulation on the floor joists but nothing along the roof raftersEssentially it's a triangle with insulation only at the bottomAnyways the roof rafter measurement is a 2x6 spaced 16 on centerThe highest r value I can find that will fit is R19Now I know it should have a higher r value but that will not allow me to finish it offDo you think r 19 would be better than nothing or should I not even bother and save my moneyBlown in is currently not an option.Second question: I have ridge and soffit ventsI know I need to use baffles, however the salesman at Lowes told me I only need them at the top of the rafters where the vent is and just one on each side where the soffit is and not the entire length of insulationIs this true? The rafters are about 14 feet in length where the baffle measures at about 4 feet.
Hello Fraz You already asked this question in different wording and I answered itI stress again: Do NOT fill the space between the roof rafters completely with insulationThere MUST be air flow between the roof boards and teh insulationIf there is no air flow, moisture will build up in the insualtion and cause the roof rafters to rot and also could cause moldBoth will end up costing more money than you would ever wish to spend and create a health and safety problem as wellMy answer: You MUST leave a space between the insulation and the roof fro cross ventilation Do NOT cover the ridge vent or completely fill in the space between the rafters There should be vents in the soffitThe air must be able to flow from the oiffit vents to the ridge vents This cross ventillation also helps to keep the roof a little cooler in the summer which will extend the life of your roofing material Without this space, the insulation will eventually become moist and loose its insulation value and will contribute to other problems such as wood rot and mold You can nail 1 X 2 strapping to the roof raftersNail flat against the roof rafters and tight to the roof boardsThis will give you a 1 1/2 inches space from the roof boards to the lower edger of the 1 X 2 strapping Place house wrap across the roof rafters by stapling it to the 1 X 2 strapping edgeThe house wrap can wrap around the roof rafters or you can cut it in strips so it fits between the roof raftersFill the remaining space with the proper size of insulationIf there is 3 1/2 inches from the edge of the 1 X 2 to the inside edge of the roof rfter, use insulation batts that are 3 1/2 inches; no thicker, no thinnerYou want the space fill completely without pushing the house wrap into the rir space.
