- Q:dont shout at me if you know who my science teacher is or what project i am talking about...anyway i have a project due in three months and i really need help getting started. can anyone show me a website or the name if a book which can help me with my project? we have to build a hoist that can lift a mass of 2 kilograms 10 cm up and 10 cm to the side...with one switch..but we have no idea how to build it or where to put the switch or the motor or anything at all...PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =]AND I REPEAT: DO NOT CUSS AT ME or any mean comments please?
- probably not quite what they're looking for you but might get some credit for creativity with the following. One of the oldest machines for lifting things is the inclined plane. I'll use the diagram on the wikipedia entry to help explain. to get the required climb in the specified length, you need a gradient of 1 in 1, and you want the angle theta to be 45 deg. I calculated the force required to pull the mass up the hill (neglecting friction), acting in a line parallel to the plane, to be just under 14 Newtons, (as apposed to about 20 N for a direct lift). The force could be provided by a single drum winch (like these from machinemart www.machinemart .uk/images/libr... ) In your case you want a smaller one powered by an electric motor (some gearing and a cotton reel perhaps). Motor can then controlled by single switch as required. If you cannot simply send the object to be lifted up the slope. build two inclined planes, and place them some distance appear. have a carriage with wheels that rest on the inclined planes, and have a bar between the carriage's wheels for attaching a lifting cable. You can raise the entire thing off the ground so that the mass fits underneath. It would work much like a monorail, but with the rail on a slope.
- Q:It's Friday nite so I gotta do it. If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys??
- We didn't evolve from monkeys, we share a common ancestor with apes.
- Q:An electric hoist is used to lift a beam y = 1.8 feet. The diameter of the drum on the hoist is x = 9 inches. Find the number of degrees through which the drum must rotate.answer is 275.020.. idk how to get it though
- The drum must rotate through 1.8 feet (21.6 inches) of its circumference. Its total circumference is 9pi inches = 28.274... inches That rotation is 21.6 / 28.274... of its total circumference (total circum represents a complete turn through 360 degrees) 21.6 / 28.274... (360) = 275.01974... degrees
- Q:do the liberal democrats what to hoist the white flag of surrender?
- do the liberal democrats what to hoist the white flag of surrender? I've tried I don't get it.
- Q:Hey Detroit fans, who hoisted the cup after game 7? I missed it.?
- Gary Bettman
- Q:What is a tube hoist and a vacuum hoist lifters?
- I must admit I had no idea. But this web page seems to answer the question. It looks kind of industrial to me. Do you have some kind of assembly plant?
- Q:The type that manufacturing and construction companies use. Researching a company that manufactures hoists. Want to estimate how often a customer would purchase a new hoist without expanding their operations. Does OSHA set limits on life years? How long would a company depreciate a hoist in terms of years? How long does a heavy duty chain and/or trolley last?
- I don't know what country you are in Most likely, this equipment is subject to regular inspection, testing and certification. When the inspector says it's past its life, then it is
- Q:I have an electric hoist that can lift 880 lbs. What is the best way to attach this to my garage ceiling without it crashing down from the weight? The only thing I can think of is screwing it in with 4 large screws it into the ceiling joists... but will that hold?
- Maybe, but I would suggest adding extra cross bracing to the rafters and bolt to that. If you plan on lifting that kind of weight, you are far better to do overkill than not. Also, I would use heavy bolts with nuts and washers since lag screws may pull out.
- Q:what does to be hoisted by one's own petard?
- A petard was a medevil era explosive device placed against the door or wall of a castle. There was a fuse. A person lit the fuse. Often the fuse malfunctioned and caused a premature explosion. Yes the door got blown down but the poor SOB lighting the fuse aldo got blown to bits. So in current terms you become a victum of your own actions. Eric
- Q:Thinking of using two hoist to raise/lower a 45' long load (rolled up gym mat). Don't want one to run if the other should quit.
- electrically, just run them off the same switches. Better if you use some sort of current sensors that sense if one motor stalls, and then use that signal to stop both of them. A bit complicated, involving relays and electronics. Best would be a mechanical link of some sort, but can't think of one just now.
