- It's easy as hell. Should take about an hour, maybe 2. Depends on how 'handy' you are. Before you replace the water pump, check your hoses. Make sure it's not them that's leaking.
- Q:What's the difference between a double suction pump and a single suction pump?
- From the literal sense to understand, double suction pump is the impeller at both ends of the water inlet, and the single suction pump is from the impeller at one end of the water.Dual suction is mainly used in the process of large flow and low lift. When the pump flow is greater than or equal to 280m3/h, the caliber of 200mm or more, if the use of a single suction pump, then the speed requirements of about 1450rpm in order to achieve the suction requirements. However, if the double suction pump is used, the size and weight of the pump are reduced, and the speed can be increased, the volumetric efficiency is increased, and the reliability of the equipment is improved.Single suction pump, also known as end suction pump, single suction pump flow is relatively small. The same flow, single suction of small size, but the axial force, bearing a large burden. The cost of single suction pump is low, the price is reasonable, widely used, but in many ways it is not as good as double suction pump. If the inlet pressure is higher, the general choice of double suction wheel can be solved. Because the axial force balance of the impeller of the single suction pump is a big problem.

- yea the water pump circulates coolant through the entire cooling system. if you wait until it fails completely, your engine will overheat. i would get it done as soon as possible to prevent further engine damage if it does happen to fail.
- Q:I am taking my car in for a timing bell replacement. My car is a honda accord 2001 6 cycl. The mileage is 80K still way under the manufacturer recommendation. I am thinking of replacing the oil pump and water pump. I am thinking that since the engine is already opened might as well get this done. I don't know if this is necessary. Are these items even closed to the timing belt area? Does anyone have any recommendation when this should be done ?
- Oil pump should be replace when engine is getting rebuild Oil pump at 80k = no Water pump with timing belt is preventive maintnanace thing. To replace water pump require removing timing belt. Most people just go ahead and pay extra to have water pump replace at same time with timing belt. Shop should just charge your cost of parts for water pump and coolant. water pump with timing belt is your call.
- Q:I have a '97 Grand Prix with a 3800 V-6. There is a single bolt on the left side of the water pump that is directly behind the power steering pump pulley. How do you get the PS pump pulley off? I pulled a tricep trying to get this thing loose, and I'm no further now than when I started on it. Can anybody give me a tip on removing the pulley or the whole PS pump? I have a brand new water pump that I can't get on because of this fine piece of design by the brilliant engineers at GM!
- you dont have to pull the power steeing pulley off...There three holes in the power steering pulley that allow access to two or possible three bolt that hold the pump to the bracket... Remove the belt, then get a deep either 13 mm or 10 mm socket and place it in one of the holes in the pulley...you will find that when you remove the bolts, the pump will slide out of the way.... Do not remove any powersteeing lines or any other item from the power steering pump..You will only be causing yourself more work..... The brillant engineers at GM left you an out...All you have to do is look...ha ha

- Q:looking for ideas and info to build a simple and rustic wind powered pump for a backyard pond. I don't want to use any elecricity and I would like to create something that once its made, will be trouble free and simplistic in operation. - Q:the car is a 1973 Pontiac Lemans, 350 V8. Water pump needs to be replaced. It's obviously a mechanical pump that's in there now. I was thinking of getting something with more capacity (to start off) as I feel the car could do with a better cooling system (and I have to get a water pump anyways). I was thinking of getting an electrical pump as that would also free up a bit of power from the engine. From what I gather, by doing this it seems I need to switch to an electrical fan also. - Q:After I replaced the water pump impeller in my outboard I fired up the motor and now its not pumping any water through the pee-hole at all and also the prop is spinning in the neutral position (motor seems as if it is in gear and trying to move). Would this be because of the shift rod or the drive shaft not being in the proper position and possibly the impeller is being span the wrong in the impeller housing cup?
- i am no expert on outboards. i did put an impeller on one with the same problem. no water output. seems there was a tube, that ran from the pump to the cylinder head. it was cracked, and the water couldnt reach the cylinder head. seems that the impeller shaft should always turn in the right direction, or it wouldnt cool in reverse, if you got this far , i am sure you will figure it out. you must be a pretty good mechanic to get that far,,
