Q:motor overheats but no leak. water just boils in resorvoir. is it hard to do it on my own?: Do your cooling fan(s) operate? One of the common problems with these cars, is for the cooling fan resistor to burn out, causing the low speed cooling fan not to work when commanded by the PCM to work. When this happens, the engine will overheat. Regarding the water pump itself, is relatively simple to access. However, the engine mount needs to be removed in order the gain clearance for the pump pulley to be removed, and then the pump itself. Check the green with black striped wire, and the green with red striped wire leading to the resistor first though. It is secured to the cooling fan shroud by a simple plastic lock clip. This part is far simpler to access than the pump. Hope this helps.

Q:does any one know where the water pump is located on a 97 nissan altima? and where can i find one, would pep boys have one?: most cars, it is in the front, driven by the timing belt. If you are going to replace the pump, replace the timing belt also (if there is one), as it's probably overdue, and you have to remove it to get at the water pump. Also the tensioner. Replacing the timing belt is a difficult task. If you screw it up, you could damage the engine. .

Q:I keep having to add water to. Doesn't do anything when it's sitting up. But after you drive it straight for about 25 minutes. Time to add some more water. I figure it's the water pump. Water pumps have mechanical seals and require no lubrication and anti freeze contains no lubrication material. Plain water will not affect the pump. Never replace any part 'till you KNOW the problem

But it goes away after about 5-25 seconds of running, what could it be?: Check closely, you may find that the pulleys are not lined up completely. Have you had the power steering pump replace? Very common to have the pulley not pressed on completely, causing the ribbed belt to not ride properly on the pulley, causing squeaks.

What kind of pumps do you want?.

Q:Pump pumping small is what happened?: You are lifting pump or submersible pump ah? Lift pump before pumping water pump, first open the pump and then open the outlet valve, and if there is no pressure, it is time to leave, the sealing performance is not good, check where leakage, and perhaps your pump is broken

Q:I have a small leak in my water pump and my check engine light is on throwing a P0303 code and it appears the two might be related.: IF you've been running the car like that AND IF the car overheated then your P0303 IS related assuming the head gasket is blown at your #3 Cylinder. water /antifreeze will cause a misfire. as for the Bars leak thing. regardless if it seals or nor whatever amount not used to seal the WP will lodge somewhere else. Ask me how I know :-( if the car is salvageable don't wait, have it fixed. if you keep running the car like that you will cause more damage than what you can afford to fix later on. I have a car sitting in the driveway which used one of those engine block sealer(bad head gasket) the intake manifold water connector leading to the heater system was clogged up with the residual chemical not used to seal the head gasket, and must I say it did not worked. you might get away with it, but like I said the remaining product will end up somewhere else. your call.

Left a piece of debris on the sealing surface. Didn't get the hose all the way on the water pump, didn't tighten the clamp enough. Check the simple things first. It's got to be one of those since the pump is new. Although not all new things work!! Sometimes you get a bad one especially if rebuilt.

You need to drain the coolant, loosen the belt, and then try and torque off those bolts that are prolly sticky on the water pump. And if the water has eaten through the gasket you may need to get the engine block redone where the water pump rests. Oh but don't go to Meineke yuck, you might as well pull your pants down at your own house and sit on a plunger handle; at least it is free and will probably be less painful.
