Q:I have a tan/white colored carpet..its a normal carpet, the threads are about ? inches long. One time i used a carpet cleaner (and didnt read the directions) and sprayed the carpet and left it to soak there for a few minutes...now the carpet spot is yellow...Any way to fix the unfixable?other than getting a new carpet..
I personally prefer Woolite SpotShot for those little carpet mishaps. But not sure if that would fix your problem. I have seen Martha Stewart use OxiClean to whiten and remove stains from antique table linens. When doing so, she allows the item to soak in the Oxiclean for as long as 24 hours. I don't think OxiClean would harm your carpet. And at this stage how much harm could it do? I would apply it liberally and reapply from time to time to keep it damp until the stain disappears, up to several hours or even a day. If no cleaner works, is covering the stain with a rug or piece of furniture an option? There might be some way to cut out the stained area and replace with a remnant of unstained carpet, if necessary taking the unstained piece from a closet floor or from under a large piece of furniture. But I don't know how you would secure the patch down. Maybe your carpet supplier could suggest a method or be willing to do it for you. Hope something in that helps you somehow.
Q:My husband and I are expecting our first baby in February; we also rent a two story house. The baby's bedroom has white carpet but it has like... hot pink and purple stains, which I think is either marker or make-up from the prior tenants children. Would a Rug Doctor be able to get out marker/make-up stains?
Rug Doctor works great but for stains like that, it probably would not help. I have found that a simple product, Windex, or another glass cleaner with ammonia, has worked very well to make marker and dye type stains almost disappear. Worth a try, then use the rug doctor on the whole house.
Q:What are the advantages and disadvantages of acrylic carpet? How about the household?
If you are not careful to spill the coffee onto the acrylic carpet, you can first use dry cloth or facial tissue to absorb moisture, and then mix the same amount of white wine and alcohol sprinkled on the stain, wipe with dry cloth to wipe out. Vinegar would have the same effect if there were no spirits. In view of this, if the home left to drink liquor, will make good use of home cleaning, maintenance. Besides coffee, tainted food stains, such as black tea, can also be removed in the same way.
Q:I want to buy this shortsale house that has carpet that animals have used the bathroom on. The carpet is not worn and is a very expensive type. I was thinking that if I removed the carpet, set it up on saw horses in the back yard, and cleaned it using a mixture of bleach water and a pressure washer. I would then let it dry completely, spray it down with febreeze and then reinstall it in the house using new padding. Does anyone have any experience doing something like this? I did the same thing to my truck carpet but I know that was probably a little different.
My favorite method for cleaning carpets involves renting a carpet machine for the weekend, NOT buying the cleaner that they offer, and instead using lemon scented ammonia and plain vinegar with hot water in the cleaning machine. This is a very clean rinsing formula that will cut grime and pet odors without damaging the carpet. New padding is a must but you can clean the carpets and then pull them outside to dry while you replace the padding and mop the underfloor with the sudsy ammonia and vinegar mix. 2 cups ammonia 2 cups vinegar 1 full tank of hot water on the carpet machine Please remember! Keep all bleach and bleaching products away from the ammonia! Once the carpets and floor are dry the ammonia is dispersed and you will not have to worry about a negative chemical reaction in the future.
Q:The carpet in my apartment was old to begin with and then I got my dog a few months ago and we have poty training issues. Now my carpet and whole place smells. I bought a carpet cleaner and have tried all sorts of produts but nothing seems to work. I don't really want to have them done professionaly done because of the dog. Help?
Honestly, I have been in your shoes before. I really had a stinked carpet and ended up throwing it away and just buying a new one.
Q:cannot stop cat from urinating on rug. i keep washing and nothing helps . the smell is driving me crazy
Is it a female or a male cat? There are lots of variables in why a cat will do this. Sometimes it's because the litterbox is objectionable in some way - either the location, the cleanliness of it, the litter, etc. Quite often when a cat goes somewhere besides the litterbox, it's because it is either unhappy about something, or is ill. Urinary tract infections occur often and cats will begin to go somewhere that will draw your attention to it. Perhaps he/she is sick? My male cat started doing the same thing to the throw rug I kept in front of the door. Eventually, we discovered he had a bladder problem which made it difficult for him to go at all. Once the problem had cleared up (he had to have surgery), he started using the box again. As for the smell, it is hard to get rid of. You can get a rug treatment and apply it, or take up the rug/get rid of it. If the cat is going on the rug because something is wrong, it will probably happen somewhere else until the problem is solved.
Q:whats the diffrence between carpets and rugs?
Carpets are wall-to-wall... rugs are pieces of carpet with finished edges, or specially-made pieces, still with finished edges. Rugs are used to accent specific areas.
Q:I have a brand new rug that is less than a week old. Every time I lift it up and sweep I have piles of white fine powder. That,s at least 3 times a day. Does anyone know what this is. I 'm thinking of taking it back.
I work in a carpet workroom and if the rug is new it probably is the backing which is drying out. The backings in synthetic rugs are attached with a water base latexed glue for the most part. If you like your rug what I can recommend is that you have a secondary backing put on instead of using a pad. If the rug is going on a hard surface I would have a nonskid backing put on it but make sure the latex it on and not use aerosol. That will give your rug a lot of stability, keep the corners from curling, protect your floor, and also keep the carpet from continuing to powder. The backing should run you about $60 dollars. I dont know what the return policy is on the rug but just to make sure it can be done I would take it to a local carpet workroom have them look at it and make sure they can do it, not all workrooms are experienced as others. That way if they dont think tey can do it you might return it for another rug before your time expires to return your rug.
Q:My carpet is so stained, and gross. it has makeup, and coke, and nailpolish.I reallly want to get new carpet.how much would that cost?in a 11 by 12 foot room?
Ermmmm.. Why not rent a Rug Doctor and clean the one you have. No point getting a new one until you're mature and responsible enough not to spill makeup, Coke, and nail polish in your room.
Q:What are the types of Persian rugs?
i'm persian and living in iran but i'm not a rug seller and cant help u more
