- Clean off as much of the poop as you can. Then just wash the rug right in your washing machine... ld water, regular laundry detergent. Hang to air dry. Machine drying can ruin the backing of the rug. Good luck. -

- pull the carpet up in that spot and make sure its dry underneath and the padding is dry also. Spray ammonia (super cheap in the detergent section) onto the wood subflooring and also on the padding and the carpet underside and top. Prop them up with books or something and sit a fan in that area to dry it. The smell is mildew and it will get worse unless you can be certain the wood and padding and everything are dry. The ammonia will kill the mildew and the smell. I've done this before successfully. Good luck

- I have another suggestion. Two products that are more concentrated that nail polish remover; -- Goof-Off (NOT Goo-Gone). Try local hardware stores or Ace; big-box stores don't carry this, I think. -- Bestine. Try Art's supplies stores. Both of these are very heavy-duty cleaners; you HAVE to have serious ventilation, like open windows and fans. But they are fabulous cleaners for tough spots. I blotted an ink-pen leak off of a raincoat with Goof-Off and it was like it had never been there after one blot. I also got some stuff that looked like melted silly putty out of carpet at rental property with Goof-Off. It took repeated pours/blots with a lot of paper towels, but it did dissolve the stuff. I found out about Goof-Off from a construction contractor. I think Bestine is raw chemical in nail polish remover. It is used to dissolve rubber cement and clean paste-up wax in graphics shops. I used to work with it, and it's a nasty but effective chemical. Just read/follow precautions on their labels, and be sure to test for color-fastness. If you do use one of these, be prepared to bag up the rags/paper towels etc. in several layers, and get them OUT. The fumes will permeate regular bags, and fill up your house and give you a major headache, aside from the risk from fumes igniting. I kid you not, be careful. They do the job but they are DUE respect.

You pay a bit more for Stain Master because they advertise on T V .Almost all stain blockers are the same.They cover the same types of stains and you treat them the same. Like any product ,carpet is a competitive market so you will get competition. What you have to do is compare carpets from one place to another. Compare warranties,the weight of the carpet and the wear warranties. Once you compare apples to apples only you can get a fair judgment. Compare installation costs, is furniture moving and rip out of the old included? See in the installers are certified. This may cost a bit more but worth it. Non certified installers can some times void warranties. Not all carpets have stain blockers , most do but not all. Take all warranties with a grain of salt.
