- Q:is there anything people can suggest to get an odour out of an area rug... it says specifially that I can't shampoo it so thats out.I can try febreeze but that always seems to just mask the odour it doesn't actually get rid of it.I think the odour itself stems from our vacuum, it needs replacing but until then I need to figure out a work around for this smelly rug as my infant usually has his play blanket ontop of it and has tummy time on there so I really don't want it to smell anymore.1. - You could try a steam cleaner with an odor-out additive. There are also pet odor sprays that are different than Febreeze that may work. I have a Bissel steam cleaner, and just use that to steam clean things with an odor fighting additive mix. If it gets real bad you can always try to steam clean it anyway on a small area and see if it tears it up. Plus there's the trash, but I know that's a bummer. Vanilla extract gets odors out but it stains. Depends on how dark the rug is. Definately for any type of plastic cooler or plastic in general, I always wipe it with vanilla extract after washing it.
- Q:I don't think it would be a good idea to have one in a dorm (harder to clean, etc.) so what should I tell my roommate? She won't give up on trying to convince me.
- If your only reason for not wanting the rug is that it would be more difficult to clean, then agree to get a shag rug only on the conditions : 1. she purchases the rug (which will then obviously be hers to keep once you two stop living together); 2. she cleans the rug; AND 3. she doesn't get bent out of shape if you think the rug needs cleaning and you then ask her to do so. If she is trying THAT hard to get you to okay having a shag rug, then I'd let her do it, as long as she knows that it is her responsibility to clean it, AND that cleaning is subject to both of your subjective opinions on cleanliness.

- You could try Spray Nine cleaner/degreaser/disinfectant. It's a great stain remover for carpets (except wool). You may have to apply it more than once if it is a particularly difficult stain. Rinse with clear water.
- Q:Basically, my dad washed the rug with laundry detergent. But he put it in an area to dry, where there is no sunlight. So it didn't dry all the way and ended up creating this mildew smell on it. I decided to wash it again, but this time with a solution called Fiber Cleansing, that is used to fight stains on carpets. And I vacuumed the rug with a wet/dry vacuum to get all the water out of it. I got most of it out, but still had a smell to it. So I decided to pour a box of baking soda all over it, to get the smell out of it. (What the internet told me to do) After leaving the baking soda on there for 2 days, still nothing. The rug itself is pretty dry now, still a bit damp on the underside of it. It still smells. What can I do?
- Forget the bleach and any other solutions given. Re launder the rug but this time add 1/3 cup bicarb soda and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the wash and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the rinse. Both of these will absorb the odour and the white vinegar will kill any mould/mildew. Make sure the rug is dried where there is an airflow, even if there is no sunlight, but sunlight is good. The trick is to make sure the rug dries as quickly as possible and a good airflow helps this happen Re what you did with the baking powder..... the rug needed to be dry first. As it was still damp the mildew was still growing. Sprinkling bicarb soda on a dry rug that has an odour will absorb the odour. I promise, if you follow the instructions, the above will work. that

- Most carpet is held by nail strips that are routed around the whole room. All you need to do to start the removal is go to a corner with a pliers or vice grip and grab ahold of the carpet and pull upward. Once the corner releases you won't need any tool, you can just pull it up all the way around the room. As for getting rid of it, I just put my old carpet in the trash can and the trash collector took it. (It took about 4 weeks to get all of the carpet, pad, and particle board into the trash.) I put in solid 3/4 wood floor and needed to change the subfloor to plywood. Make sure the subfloor you have is rated for the type of flooring you are installing. Each case of flooring should have instructions inside.

- 14.2 IS a pony as you well know. he doesn't need any rugs at all if he isn't clipped. Wild horses don't wear rugs and farmers don't put rugs on their cows, sheep and pigs. People put rugs on horses to make people feel better but horses if they are not clipped and in rugs get too HOT in the least bit of sun. Nature has made them able to withstand cold and rain in a way humans cannot. My ponies live out all year and are not clipped and i ride regularly. But be warned lots of ignorant people will tell you that you are cruel if you don't put a rug on He doesn't need an exercise sheet, those are for clipped horses so they don't get a chill
