- Q:I am about to buy new carpeting for the family room. The current carpeting is pretty regular carpet, although I don't know what the technical details are. The problem is that my son gets so upset because his toy cars and trains don't roll very well on the carpet and he tends to try to put them on tables, etc. or the hardwood. The cars, etc. do pretty well on the area rug, which isn't too thick. I need suggestions for the type of carpeting to buy that would allow cars and such to roll. Is it looped carpet? I know ti's strange request. Thanks!
- The carpet that you need for your son isn t really a very practical carpet for a family room. What your needs are is a low napped commercial level loop. It requires a 1/2 or 3/8 inch thick pad so it won t have the soft feel. It s like a berber but w/ real small tight loops .. Not a soft carpet but it ll do what you want for him. And it ll wear like iron so to speak.. Other than that , the lower the nap on the carpet the better play area for him. You can get low napped plushes and textured carpet and they ll be softer , it won t be quite as go for his needs, Maybe a lower looped berber but their prone to snags since they are a continuous filament fiber and if you get a snag ( from a truck wheel) and it get pulled or caught in the vacuum zipppp there goes a whole row e mail me if you have other carpet questions GL
- Q:I have the area rugs on the top of carpet. and sofa was on it. now the sofa is moved and rug is wrinkled badly. how to unwrikle it? I placed heavy books on the wrinkles, still they are not smooth and I trip over them. thanks in advance.
- Hang the rug up if you can and spray it with water and see if you can work the wrinkles out by pulling of them. Good Luck

- If you shop at Lowe's you can get the basic labor for $139. They will charge about a dime or so per square foot to remove and haul away your old pad and carpet. Also, move your own furniture to save on additional charges. Your carpet will cost you starting around $1.28 per square foot if you special-order (best way to get just the right color!), standard padding around 55 cents per square foot. Measure your room's lenth and width, multiply the two measurements to get square footage. Do this for each room, then total them all together. Approximate about ten percent extra for waste. Remember, carpet most commonly comes in 12 foot and 15 foot widths. so if your room is, for example, 10 feet by 9 feet, you would use a 12 ft by 9 ft cut of carpet. If there are going to be seams, for larger rooms, remember that the two pieces of carpet MUST run in the same direction (parallel) and not reversed (turned around and going the other way)! Good luck!

- Dying bleach stains in a carpet can be done, but that is something usually best left to a professional. Try contacting local flooring companies, or check your local registry to see if you have someone in your area that does 'carpet repair, or dye'. If the bleach stains aren't very large, then it might be possible to 'swap' a portion of the carpet out of a closet, and patch it. Again, this isn't something I would recommend for a novice. It does take a bit of skill to make a patch that blends in so it isn't visible. Using carpet dye, or patching a carpet, are two things that can very easily end up with more problems than you started with, hehe. In a worst case scenario, the carpet could be replaced.. so it would be a toss up, as to which would be more expensive, losing the deposit, or installing new carpet. Before replacing it, I'd suggest you double check with the apartment management. Many apartment complexes will keep at least a portion of the deposit, for 'cleaning' anyway, so there is a chance you won't get your full deposit back, even if you leave it with absolutely no damage at all. The only way around it would be to hire a professional cleaning company yourself, and that usually costs more than letting the apartment management have their maintenance/cleaning employees do the work. I would recommend that, if you cannot find someone to repair the carpet, that you get some estimates on replacing it. Then, if the apartment management tries to keep the entire deposit, you make them break it down by cost (in writing). If their cost for carpet replacement is higher than your estimates, you've got something you can use to barter with, if it is worth your time. Good Luck

- No. you will ruin your carpets. Oxi works great on a small stain and blot dry. If you want to clean your carpets you need a steam cleaner for carpets. If you leave water under the carpet on the pad it will get moldy and smell. Carpet cleaners suck up the excess water.

- their are many stain and oder removers at stored like petsmart and petco or at your local pet store, they are made specifically for pet oders like cat urine, if your cat is peeing on the rug she may not like the litter, the literbox location(they don't like it if its to close to were they eat)try using cat attract litter brand and place a water dish where she pees, cats don't like to pee or poo where they eat and drink.
