Q:I‘m converting my 10 speed to a fixed gear. It currently has 26x1 3/8 wheels. I want to put some 700c wheels and tires on but I don‘t know which size to get? 700x23c? 700x25c etc.

also you don;t seem to know the difference between tires and wheels wheels will not usually be '23c or 25c' typical road bike wheel will be listed and sized as '700c, 20mm' they are not called 23c 25c etc neither is a typical wheel 23mm or 25mm wide and 700c wheels are too big for a 26 frame what kind of 10 speed had 26 wheels? that doesn;t even make sense 27 maybe if it has 26 wheels, it is probably really built for 27 do they look unusually small? do the pedals have not a lot of clearance, do the brakes really hit the supposedly 26 wheels? none of this makes sense old 10 speeds never had 26 wheels unless it is some weird kid bike or as the other guy, a cheap fake road bike with off size wheels, not worth converting you can possibly go from 27 to 700c even that may not work or it may require other mods wle

If I have to replace the entire wheel, is it likely that the shop will have a replacement? If the insurance covers the wheel as in the comp or collision section of your policy then they will pay for the wheel is needed. Chances are the body shop will not have it in stock. The body will either have to get one from a dealer or aftermarket if the wheel is the same as the OEM. The tires may be a different story. There are tires that only a manufacturer uses and if the car has tires on it that are no longer made then the insurance company has to decided what to do. You can not have different tread designs on the same axle if it is a 2 or 4 wheel drive. An all wheel drive must have the same tread design on all 4 wheels. That will most likely be a judgment call on your insurance company.
