Q:all my wires are cut and im trying to find the power/hot wire so that i dont fry anything....im trying to hook up a new radio
Blazer Radio
Q:Im wiring my pioneer deh x3600ui to my pontiac grand am gt 2002 directly without a factory harness. Any diagrams out there i can use? The red wire on my pioneer is for the ignition but i cant find that wire on the pontiac.
if u cant find a diagram u can always check the speakers for the colors of the wires and then just try to get a hold a cheap little voltage meter like the one below just to find ur ground, remote, and battery wire.
Q:electroluminescent wire picture?
What about it?
Q:But I want to switch it and wire the red ceiling wire to the black fan wire and the black ceiling wire to the black/white fan wire so that the particular switches work the way I want them to. Is this ok, to switch them?
Black wire on the fan is for the fan motor, red wire in the fan is for the light, the white wire is the neutral wire. So if you do want to switch the light off and on you have to tie red wire to the switch and the black wire can be tied to the hot at the ceiling box so you can control the fan with the chain only. If you have one switch leg in your circuit then you cannot do anything but switch them both if you tie them together. I think I am understanding what you are saying here. White Alyse ties to white Black is for the fan motor and the red is for the light. If you have three wires in the switch then you can tie them the same way color to color. Hope this has not confused you You can email me if you need further help
Q:The wire from the pinball machine only has two wires. How do I rewire the machine with a grounded wire and plug?
Used to love to play pinball in this one bar that would give you a beer if you got so many points. I got good at pinball. (That was back in my drinky too much days.) Funny thing is, I can't play worth a damn now that I'm sober. I went to this great arcade with my nephews a year and a half ago - big ol' thing on the Oregon coast - and am looking forward to doing it again this summer. I love arcades, but we don't have one where I live now.
Q:In a telephone splice case, do you have to strip the 2 wires you want to splice, and put them together, or does each wire that you want to connect attach to terminals in the case? I am talking about the black cases on a utility pole, that the residential phone wiring connects to.
Your not suppose to be in that box. The only phone line you are to mess with is in your house. Call the phone company for this kind of repair.
Q:Not the wire from RadioShack, but the really thin stuff used in modded circuit boards, logic circuits, low power circuits, etc.
Most low-voltage hookup wire is 24 gauge. You may be talking about what is called wire-wrap wire, which is used in some electronic prototyping projects. Wire wrap wire is 32 gauge Kynar insulated wire. (The larger the gauge number, the smaller the wire.) Radio Shack carries 24 gauge in larger spools of one color and in little sets of mixed colors. They also carry wire-wrap wire. So you can get it there. Just ask the sales person for help. If that doesn't work for you, there are a number of on-line sources. Just run an internet search on hook-up wire or wire-wrap wire. That will bring up lots of on-line suppliers that will provide you all sorts of small-gauge wire.
Q:My dad is trying to wire a electric cook top...it has three wires (black, red, and copper). His junction box has four wires (black, red, white and copper). He first wired the black to black, red to red and copper to copper, he capped the white wire in the junction box. The cook top did not work. Then he connected the white wire with the two copper wires, and the cook top now works. So the question is will this connection work or will it cause a problem? And if it causes a problem what can he do to resolve it?
Hi There, This what I would do. The black and red wires from the cooktop are fine and can be connected to the black and red wires in the junction box. Check the copper wire from the stove and see where it is connected. It is probably a neutral wire used to supply 120 volts for a clock, lights or other control function. If that is the case I would exchange it for a properly sized insulated white wire. This white wire can be connected to the white wire in the junction box. Then: Connect the copper wire to a metal part of the cooktop to use as a ground wire. This wire can then be connected to the copper wire in the junction box. This would be a typical modern 4-wire 240 volt setup. Hope this helps, Al
Q:does anyone know what wires go on which post on a 1995 chevy lumina 3.1 starter? it was off when i bought the car and im lost. i cant find a straight answer anywhere. a picture of the wiring in question is an instant best answer lol
It doesn't take a medical doctor to know small wire goes on small stud the large wire goes on the larger stud.
Q:I'm faced with a dilemma...I'm wiring my basement right now and all is fine, except for my living room. I want to have a 3-way switch setup, but with four light fixtures. I've already ran 3+ground wires in this order...Breaker box - Switch A - Fixture 1 - Fix. 2 - Fix. 3 - Fix. 4 - Switch B. I have done regular 3-way switches in the past, without much trouble, but I have no idea how to wire this, so well-explained instructions would be perfect. Thanks so much!
i hope i can give you good instructions. you have 2 switches you want to operate the lights. first. pull a feed or wire that will be hot probarly from your panel box to the easiest switch to get to. this wire should have 1 black 1 white and one bare copper or green. second pull a three wire from one switch to the other. this wire should have one black one white one bare copper or green and one red wire in it. now there are 2 different ways to go from here. one way. pull a wire from the switch opposite of the switch with the feed in it. this wire would be called a 2 wire it should have 1 black 1 white 1 bare copper or green, to the first light you want to operate. then you can pull a 2 wire from that light to any other light you want to operate from the switches. you do not need to pull any more wires from the lights to the switches. in the first switch with the feed take the white wire from the feed and tie it to the white wire from the 3 wire going to the other switch. take your grounds and tie them together. leave a wire from your grounds so you can tie it to the switch. put you white wires back into the box. you should have 2 blacks 1 red and 1 ground wire sticking out. when you install your switch a three-way switch has 4 screws on it. the ground goes to the green screw. now you have one black screw and 2 gold screws. the black wire from your feed wire ties to the black screw. the red and black wire from your 3 wire ties to the gold screw. one wire to on screw the other wire to the other screw. does not matter which. the opposite switch hooks up the same. the 2 white tie together and go into box. the grounds tie together and then tie to the green screw. the black wire going to your lights ties to the black screw and the red and black wires from the 3 wire go to the gold screws. remember if you are using 14 wire you can only put 12 amps on it that would be about 1400 watts. 12 wire you can put 16 amps on it which is 1900 watts.
