3. butterfly valve hydraulic drive device structureThe valve hydraulic device is mounted on the valve drive shaft. The driving shaft of the valve is fixed with a transmission spline, and the crank (with an outer spline) is sleeved on the driving shaft. Wow Hannah! That's a cool find for sure! It appears to be possibly a valve for a radial aircraft engine as it looks very similar to ones i've seen used in Pratt+Whitney R3350's etc. It looks like it could probably date to the 1940's up thru the 1950's. Look for a Part Number stamped on the valve or on the box. After WW2 there were all kinds of manufacturers making parts for airplanes. Many were gobbled up by competitors, converted to manufacturing other products or went out of business altogether. Q:I did a compression check on my 350 chevy. I have low compression of 175psi on one cylinder.The other seven cylinders range from 195psi to 205psi Could the valves be too tight on the cylinder with 175 psi compression?
Chev engines have hydraulic lifters, keeping the valves adjusted correctly at all times. 20 lbs isn't much to worry about anyway, but if you want dump a little oil (about a tablespoons worth) into that cylinder and recheck it. If the compression jumps up, then your rings are getting weak. If not, you may have a leaky valve.

The variable is the valve timing. The spark plug fires a split second before the piston reaches the top of the stroke, to give the fuel a bit of time to burn. An import shop can probably do this in two hours and cost should be in the general range of $200-300 I'd estimate. There is a camshaft that acts on the valves, and there is a predetermined amount of play or slop in the system that is within specs. As the valve seat wears, the valve gets pulled further into the head, and this lessens the play as it wears. If it gets too tight and fails to have any play, the valve won't be held tight against the seal and it will leak, lose power and possibly burn the valve. So yea, get it set. Also may want to factor in timing belt cost and ask about that and water pump as those aer replaced together.
Q:Not the cold and hot water shut off valves. The one with a tiny handle and it looks like a T. what does it do? should I mess with it?
It maybe the valve for your Ice maker / refrigerator or it maybe for the dishwasher. You should be able to look and see where the pipes go. If there is no pipe connected to the valve then it may be there in case you want to install an ice maker or dishwasher. Don't mess with it unless you know what you are doing. Valves like that can start to leak if you go messing with them. Especially if the valves are old.
