Q:Carpet quote? Is this a good deal?
The carpet brand is only one small aspect of what makes the carpet a good value or not. Each company will make 100's of different carpet and many diferent qualities. However, based on normal empire quality carpet: the prices should start at 2.75 sqft ($24.75 sqyd) installed, w/pad disposal. So you may have upgraded and the price can reach that level quickly. We carry many different carpets with many different price levels and great prices in Minnesota's metro area. Stop in and we would love to get you a great value.
Q:Where can you order Chinese carpets fitted to individual measurements?
Try a carpet shop.
Q:possible 3rd degree rug burn?
If it is getting better than you are doing the right thing. The trick to the band aid, would be to get a longer one, so that it will go all the way around your toe and stick to itself. Measure it before you take those tabs off to make sure it is long enuff.
Q:how much to buy and install a carpet?
Depends on the cost of the carpet per yard which is how most carpet is sold. 12' x 12' is the equivalent of 16 yards of carpet, You also need to buy pad if the old pad is worn (its probably as worn as the carpet you are replacing), Go to your local carpet store and get per yard prices for the carpet you like. As a general rule, for the basic no frills in-stock Home Depot variety carpet, I would figure approximately $9-$10 per yard and about $2-3 per yard for pad (I know prices vary but thats a rough idea). Around $200. As for the installation - you will have to call around to find out the per yard price to install because it varies depending on where you are located.
Q:Need carpet fading advice?
If your home is a double wide (or larger), and you did not order it direct from the factory, then there is a good chance it sat on the dealer's lot for some time...and its possible some sunlight was allowed in thru the marriage wall. The marriage wall usually just has a layer of plastic over it for transport...some dealers leave it on while the home is on their lot, and some don't. Even a small hole in the plastic can result in a large faded area if it was facing the sun. (Some homes will sit on a dealerships lot for a year or so, before they are sold....plenty of time for the sun to cause some fading) There is also the possiblity that your cleaning chemicals did cause some fading....they all come with a warning to 'spot check' a section to see if they will cause any fading, before you are to use them all over the carpet. Since you mention dogs in the home, pet urine could also be a factor. And of course, there is always the chance that you just got a bad quality carpet to begin with. Different manufacturers use varying quality of carpet. Some are pretty good. Some are pretty cheap. A lot of the carpet being made today is synthetic...(some even use recycled plastic). Things like nail polish (or remover), or 'kool-aid' (its actually the sugar in the drink that does the damage) can actually alter the fibers chemically. Bleach dripped on the carpet will do the same, even if it is wiped up immediately. If a rag has been used to clean with bleach, or acetone (an ingredient found in most nail polish removers) is dropped on the carpet, or used when damp to wipe the carpet, it will cause the carpet to fade. If the carpet is in good shape, physically... little wear and tear, no holes, etc... then you may want to just have a professional come in to dye the carpet. Usually, this costs less than replacing the carpet, but get some quotes for replacing it too. Good Luck
Q:Difference between Persian and Oriental rugs?
A Persian rug is from Iran. An Oriental rug can be from anywhere in Asia. The Persian rugs have the best quality and command the best prices. I would compare a Persian rug to a Cuban Cigar. However, as with cigars the other countries products are catching up fast.
Q:Is the living room able to lay a carpet?
Q:How do I get my rug cleaned?
The best way to keep your area rug looking its best is once a month flip it upside down and vacuum the back of the rug. It is okay to use a beater bar/rotating brush vacuum on the back of a wool rug, on the front it is recommended to only use suction. The beater bar/rotating brush sucks up the small fine wool fibers wearing away your wool rug. For synthetic area rugs it is fine to use the beater bar/rotating brush vacuum on the front and back of the rug.
Q:How do you uncurl an edge of an oriental rug?
Roll the corner under very tightly to bend it a bit, then lay something heavy (a stack of books) on it for a day. This should work, but if not, try getting some adhesive made to hold rugs in place. You can get it for carpeted floors with a rug, or non-stick items to hold the rug on hardwood or vinyl floors as well.
Q:whats better on a carpet ?
This is what I do all the time. Go rent a rug doctor at your grocery store. I never use any of the special cleaners, instead I buy a nice big bottle of Mr. Clean orange cleaner and dillute it in some water (to the designated fill line on the water canister). Then run the rug doctor like normal. It does wonders for your carpet! It seriously is awesome. I've even used it on white carpets, colored and car carpets. Give it a try.
