Q:Hidden Electrical Wires?
The best way to trace where the wires in your wall are would be to use a toner. It consists of 2 pieces... a tone generator, and a small hand held amplifier. YOU NEED TO TURN THE CIRCUIT OFF BEFORE DOING THIS. That being said, you would shut off the breaker or remove fuse for that circuit, open the wall outlet box, pull out receptacle and attach leads from tone generator (they have alligator clips on them) to the white and black. Then you simply turn on the hand held amplifier and place it on the wall starting from the outlet and just keep going in the direction that provides the loudest sound.
Q:Factors that affect wire?
1) How does the type of wire affect resistance? - This property is called resistivity changes from material to material very low for metals 2) How does the length of wire affect resistance? - If material and other dimensions are same it increases in the same ratio as the length.[If l doubles resistance doubles] 3) How does the diameter of the wire affect resistance?- If material and other dimensions are same itdecreases in the same ratio as the square of the diameter.[If diameter doubles resistance becomes one fourth] 4) For metals, the resistivity increases linearly with temperature. 4) How does temperature affect resistance?
Q:Crossing dryer plug wires?
My first question is did he run a new line ? With the old three prong, there was only three wires. There shall be four wires to use a four prong. So, if he didn't and plugged in the dryer in, any warranty is null and void. As far as the black and red being crossed, no it does not matter with these two wires.
Q:Turn Signal Wiring?
Does the flasher work? Are you using two filament bulbs? The green wire is a ground. The blue and purple sound like HD wiring, one is for blinkers, and one for running lights.
Q:Connnecting wires in a splice case?
truthfully it isn't any longer a code violation. there's a provision interior the electrical powered code that asserts that any splice might desire to be in a qualified container with cover and it would be available, meaning do no longer sheet rock over or placed cupboard in front of j container. The 8/3 section concerns me. maximum levels are rated at 50 amps and huge sort 8 is to small for fifty amps. examine the score plate on the kind. ascertain all connections are tight. Dan
Q:Installing a fan ..... wires?
Check the voltage with a meter. If correct just wire it. At one time in the US the wiring wasn't color coded. Not the safest but it worked!
Q:Make a Flash Gun with wires and such?
That okorder.com The circuit is simple. The parts are the battery, some regular wire, a push-button switch, and the nichrome wire. Connect one end of the short piece of nechrome wire to one end of a wire. Connect that end to one of the battery terminals. Connect a second piece of wire between the other battery terminal and one side of the switch. Connect a third piece of wire from the switch to the other end of the nechrome wire. When the button is pushed, the wire should heat up.
Q:Wiring Ceiling light?
One wire is switch hot. You'll have to test to determine which wire it is.
Q:Switch wiring question?
Well it is defintely a 3 way switch. The fourth (green) wire being the ground. I can't tell you by the numbers, but I can tell you by the screws which wire goes where. If it does not apply to your switch you may need to go get a new one. They are inexpensive. The green, ground wire goes to the screw that is usually attached to the arms ( metal extentions that hold against the sheet rock. Now you need to find the red and black wire that are together. Look inside the box where the wires come in and you should be able to tell if the red and black are in the same sheathing. These are your travelers. The travelers need to go on the two screws that are across from eachother. One goes on the right side and one goes on the left. Does not matter which side. The last black wire, depending on which of the two 3 ways you are at is either your power or your light leg (wire going to your light). This wire goes on the last screw. Hope this was helpful.
Q:Electrical wiring help!?
Maybe an electrician would have done it better and stopped you almost killing yourself or starting a fire!
